I'm looking forward to trying the spa on the Wonder for the first time and I'd love to get a Rainforest pass. Just a few questions for Barb and Tony or anyone else:

1. Once you have the pass, can you just pop in anytime you want or do you need to make reservations? What are the hours?

2. Do they have a limited number of passes (do I need to scramble to get them? Does it get crowded in there?)

3. Silly question, but do most people wear swimsuits?

4. Are you supposed to be in there for a set time (do they ask you to move along if you've been in there for a LONG time LOL)

The DCL website doesn't give much info and I'd like the lowdown before boarding. Thanks in advance!

Ok...rainforest 7 day pass....you can use it for an unlimited number of times each day (although they do keep a check list and check you off when you've been in. You are REQUIRED to wear swim suits. You can stay as long as you want. They do not try to hurry you along. You can go whenever the spa is open, you do not need an appointment or reservation. As far as I know, they have an unlimited number of passes. IF they do not "sell" enough, they will offer sea day passes and other "specials."

Most of the time, the rainforest wasn't crowded. However, there were a few times when it was more full than I would have liked. The attendants come thru very regularly and replace towels, etc.

When you check in, you go to the desk and give them your KTTW card. They keep the card, and give you a basket with a robe and slippers and a locker key. You put your robe over your swimsuit and go in. The rainforest consists of steam rooms at 4 different temperatures as well as the main room. IN addition, there are a couple of different sorts of showers. Then you can go to the main dressing room and use the regular shower and sauna there also. Shampoo and body scrub is provided in the locker room showers, as is a hair dryer. When you leave, you can wear your swimsuit or change into your regular clothes. You return your robe/slipper/key basket to the desk and reclaim your KTTW card. A decent rainforest trip is AT LEAST an hour....hee hee....it's a wonderful place to go after working out in the fitness room.

While on this subject I have been interested in the Rainforest however with so many complaints about it not working properly over the past year, and even after the dry dock of the Magic can anyone advise if it everything is working OK now?
Cheers,
Grumbo

If there were a limit on time spent in the Rainforest, hubby and I would be in the brig! On the Wonder, they just added something neat...a selection of various spa products that you can try in the Rainforest. They have always offered this is the surial, and I think it's a great addition.
A humorous aside about swimsuits: One I was in the Rainforest and a woman came in without one! She was in a towel, and completely naked underneath. She was shocked to find out that it was a co-ed area! If I were her, I would have gone back to my stateroom and switched to a swimsuit (maybe she didn't have one?). But she stayed and made do with towels.

I met Tony (Barb's husband) in the Rainforest! We were on cruise number 9 on the Magic, they were on their 29th DCL!

They are also giving the basket of products to sample on the Magic. It's a nice way to see if you like the products or not - you get a good variety most of the time and of course, people want to swap with you when they see what you have in your basket.

Sure do hope that the problems and staff attitude has changed by April - it's the only "unDisney" spot on the ship and it shows!

I just got off the magic a couple of weeks ago and did the rainforest! I was having sinus problems the first couple of days and it worked wonders for me!
And yes, they do offer the various products to try, needless to say i bought some of them!

Most everything seemed to be working! The showers seem to switch functions everyday but they worked.

Make sure to use the aromatherapy room, it is intense but very soothing afterwards!

Yes, you are required to wear swimsuits!

When I go again I will be doing the rainforest again! I loved it, if nothing else just to get away and relax! There were many times I was in there by myself or with just a few other people, it was nice!

hmm, this sounds like something I want to try!! What is the weekly price? It was $15/day, but I would assume they would have some sort of package deal...

Thanks, I'll be there shortly!! ::yes::

It was $50 for the week. Unlimited use! $15/day, $30 for 3 days, $40 for 4 days and $50 for the week. It was a great deal!

Have fun on the Western! I did the eastern and loved it!

Thanks Gina~
looks like a good investment for $50 is the way I'll be going.

This is a strange question: anyone know if the showers in the spa have high ceilings? My DS is very tall & scheduled to go on a 7 day in October. I noticed from other DCL cruises I have been on, that the ceiling heights in the showers in the staterooms would be too low for him (kudos that they have the hand held option for the water). Woud he be more comfortable showering in the spa than in the room?

I can't tell you about the height of the ceiling in the showers, but unless your DS is 18 or over, he won't be allowed to use the facilities in the spa.

How tall is he?? or should I say how small are the showers in the staterooms?? I shouldn't have a problem (5'0") but I was just wondering...

Hey Rae~
I know --- isn't the world a different prospective from down at this height??? Will I have a problem getting up onto the loungers in the Rainforest?? :teeth:

My DS is 6' 4" or so (maybe 6'5") He is also no child-30yrs.
Will he fit in the showers in the staterooms or will he fit better in the Spa?

Yes, but it won't be because of "our" height challenge!!! You just never want to leave.

You should see me trying to get up on my shortest horse - he's only 2 over 15 hands and these short little legs just have such a fit!!!!

I have such mixed feelings about the Spa - I like and use most of their products. And I do like the Chaka Capsule - especially with lavender scent and the "Time to Spa" tape playing! But the Rainforest just goes from good to horrible (often closed due to problems). And the personnel have this "superior than thou" attitude that I really find offensive. (Hey, I am NOT perfect but I am comparing their attitude to the Disney Cruise Employees attitude - much different!)

Anyway, I think I wil forgo the weekly pass and se how it is on a daily basis - I do like showering in the ladies locker room much better than in my stateroom - plus I like to sit in their recliners after a hot shower and "veg out" - hopefully, they aren't playing basketball above me at the time!!!

Hi everyone:

I've been following this thread because I'm interested in trying out the Rainforest Spa. I think I've been reading that anyone can use the showers in the main spa area - locker room?? Is this true? My BIL who will be cruising with us, is very tall. If he has a problem with the height of the shower in their cabin, would I be able to tell him he can use the showers in the locker room?? Trying to figure out of CGC33A ever got an answer to her question! LOL Thanks!
