Hello ... we are waiting (and waiting and waiting and waiting) for our pool to be finished. They (the pool company) seems to be taking their SWEET time getting here to get things done. I was so p'oed last week and he FINALLY returned by call and said he promised they'd be here on Monday and we'd be in by Thursday. Well ... they aren't here yet!!!

So my question is this ... if they HAD been here this morning could they have put down concrete with damp sand (from last nights rain)?? If they could, would today have been enough time for it to dry before it rains again tomorrow?? Or do they have a legitimate reason for not being here? (a call would be nice!!)

So frustrated with this whole process ... lots of promises, lots of unreturned calls, lots of $$$ .... my kids just want a pool to swim in!!!

Did you check the company out with the BBB? You might call the contractor again, and tell him you will put in a complaint with them.

Kerri, I feel your pain.

1989. Kids: 2, 3, 4.; a father diagnosed terminal, we had just moved, I was facing a new job in September, and we had been promised the pool to be in BEFORE we moved. I almost had a nervous breakdown that summer with all of the stress. They said they could put one in in 7 days, and it took a full month! Every time I called them....I got, "it's raining, we can't come". Or, "we'll be there"....and they weren't. BTW every time they told me it was raining, I'd say, 'Not here it isn't". Our house is less than 15 km from the showroom, and it was true....rain in the city, not where we live. Even to this day, this is true.

BUT the day they poured cement, they couldn't put us off any longer. :sad2: I stood at the patio door, giggling like a mad woman, as they did the cement work. . . . in the rain! :lmao:

Well after I typed this they did arrive :) Guess maybe their ears were burning??

It is such a long story about this pool ... how we went into this contract in march of 2009 as we were going to put it in the house we were living in at this time last year. Then due to school issues (my kids were out of area) we decided we were going to move, but hang on to the pool contract and put the pool in at our new house. Fine with him. I figured since we'd booked in '09 we'd be top of the list to have it done this year. He even said - "We'll start by May 15, you'll be in by June 15" ... well obviously that hasn't happened. I do realize we had a rainy June, but we had an amazing May so there wasn't any issue to get started and get it done!

Trying to call him is fruitless most times ... he did call me back last Thursday and agreed he was likely my most hated man right now. He could be right! He is a perfect salesman ... I just want it done and in and then I can be done with it all. We have a lovely pond out there - a frog has even come to live in it! Keeping the girls away from it is a chore too!

So anyways ... hoping by the end of this week we will have a pool. The girls and I are headed to WDW next week so we are hoping to be swimming in it when we get back!!

As for the BBB - checked them after all of this and complaints about lack of returning calls, etc. We picked this company after looking around and talking to many people who used them. They were highly recommended. Unfortunately I can not recommend them ... a friend down the road actually had a pool put in and decided not to use them because of us and another co-worker her husband knew. They went with a different pool company and they have been swimming in their pool now for almost two weeks!!! Supposedly our pool company does great work, but this seems to be how they handle putting the pools in. Pathetic - but we are trying to ride it out ... my patience is wearing thin!!

Putting in a pool was the most stressful thing we ever did. One month became three. I have never seen workers take so many breaks or do alot of nothing@!!. That was 7 years ago. The pool continues to give us much trouble and has been a lemon. They didn't even get the intial design right! Stay on top of them and supervise every detail. Once its in there, there is not a great to be done about any problems! We thought we had done our homework ahead of time and choose a contaractor that was on HGTV all the time. Needless to stay, as the result of the endless problems of with our pool, he lost 5 jobs that year alone!
Good Luck and stay tough!

We also used a company that was on HGT tv and it was a big mistake and an exspensive one.
