I noticed that almost everyone who mentions how many points they have or have added on is an even number -- EX: 170 Not 175. Is it possible to buy 175 or 225 or 425?? Everyone seems to have 200 or 400 or 320 so I was just wondering -- Thanks!!

Disney offers their packages in round numbers, so it's easy to figure out your payment and dues, but after you buy the basic package of 150, you can get any number. My add-on, for example, is 105 points, not 100, or 50. Since I have a large contract and a small contract, I did an add-on to even things up for when I leave my points to my kids afterI die, way in the future. Realistically, I don't think I will still be going to Disney when I am 90, although I would like to:cool:

Actually you can buy your first points in ANY number that is 150 or higher. So you could buy 199 points or 313 points or whatever you decided would meet your needs. I think that a lot of people might buy them in increments of 10 because it's easier to do the math when working with the points.

My first purchase was for 175 points. Then I added on 50, and then added on 125. So I didn't stick with increments of 10 myself.

If you go to the current thread about how many add-ons people have bought, you'll read about a number of people who bought or added on in "unusual" numbers. It all works out for different people in different ways. :D

We are in the process of purchasing 175 points. The first total we were buying was 157 to allow us to stay in a 2 bedroom every 2 years, then after signing the paper work and then getting a call from Disney that they were resending our paper work due to an error with a date, after I received my new paperwork, I decided that maybe I should buy 175 so that allows me to go almost any time every other year for 2 bedroom .....so there's my odd number of points!!!!

Well, I am buying into DVC/BCV as soon as NY gets approved and my guide gives me the call and I plan on buying 175 -- I feel 150 is too little and 200 is too much and thought 175 would be just right!! (Just call me Goldilocks!! :p )

One word of caution. If one looks at the points charts and figures out exactly how many points it will cost for X type of stay, that is a potential disaster. If you do that and DVC makes any type of adjustment, that could shoot you're plans to heck. So if one is counting the exact number of points for a stay for anything less than a 2 BR for a full week during magic season, I'd at least consider padding your totals by around 10%. That's especially true for anyone looking at 5 days Sunday to Friday and then figuring the exact number of points needed.

The contracts I own are 270, 232 and 333.

We just did an add on for 32 points. I chose 32 because of the great number of vacation home nights or combinations of nights that were divisible by some multiple or even fraction of 32 (e.g., 8 point studio nights at OKW).

I just wanted this to be said in BOLD! :D

We ended up buying 155(!) because some scenarios I was looking at added up to 152, 154, or 155. In particular, 5 weekdays + 1 weekend at BCV 1-bedroom in Adventure season is 155 points. OK we really should have bought 200, but money is a little tight right now. With banking and borrowing, I'm not really worried about having the precise number of points, but it makes sense to cover a typical stay.

We have friends who bought a resale contract of 151 points! Now THAT is ODD!

I know!! Almost all of the resales I've seen were very odd amounts like 112. (?????)
