Isn't there an app for the iPhone that lets you remotely disable the phone if it gets lost? Is there also one that helps you use the GPS to locate the phone?

Thanks.

Yes there is, if you search apps it's under "find Iphone". Pete actually had to do this at my house and it runs with Google. You can set a pass code on it or erase all contents (if you know you'll never get it back). You can also have it beep and such like that.

I believe you have to have it enabled on your phone before it happens with a mobile me account (even if you don't have a paid subscription, you can sign in for this feature with your apple account). Then if your phone is lost, you sign in at www.me.com and click on "Find My iPhone". From here you can do several things - you can lock your phone, display a message, or wipe it. Hope this helps!

Also, it may be a long shot if you lost it already but see below...

And for the Good Samaritans…
There is a web site dedicated to lost and found iPhones:
www.ifoundyouriphone.com
You can register your serial number on your phone and put a message on your wallpaper where the person who finds your phone can go and contact you to get it properly returned. I encourage everyone to do this. There are a lot of good people out there, and hey, doing this simple step allows those people to be good. If all they got is a random phone that self-destructed its data, then they might just decide to keep it, but if they can look up your name and address, they might try to give it back to you. Think positively.
