In reading another thread posted about incentives expiring I became confused. Can someone shed some light for me about this?

We are travelling to WDW in August. We had hoped for the closing on some of our rental properties to happen earlier this year, then to purchase DVC by phone and use points for our upcoming vacation. When it became apparent that the closing was NOT going to happen as planned we made regular reservations at the WL for our upcoming trip and figured we'd do the tour when there (and if the $$ from the closing was available we'd purchase.)

I've been waiting to hear about the July incentive (does anyone know what it is?) and when it expires so perhaps we'd know what the "deal" was we'd be offered during the tour. I had also thought of calling DVC beforehand to let them know we were interested in the doing the tour, and to see about getting additional information from them.

Now, I'm concerned that
1) If I contact them by phone but don't purchase immediately I'll be shut out of buying with an incentive when we do the tour. AND/OR
2) That if the closing hasn't happened by the time we take the tour and we can't purchase while on-site that we'll lose our ability to purchase with an incentive in the future.

Will one or both of the scenarios above happen?

TIA

That will NOT happen. When you contact DVC via phone they do not impose any time limits by which you need to purchase in order to receive the promotional discount. They appreciate the fact that it can take a bit longer to make a decision if you're basing it entirely on photos and brief videos of the accommodations.

The only thing at risk is the expiration of the current puchase incentive. If, for example, DVC's current incentive were scheduled to end on 7/31, you would need to commit by that date in order to receive that discount. If you waited until 8/1, you would get whatever new discount is being offered at that time.

That certainly COULD happen. They often give people only 72 hours to decide and retain the incentives after touring the model rooms.

I'd suggest contacting them in advance. Before you take your trip, set-up the tour and confirm with the Guide (salesperson) that you will not be placing your discounts at risk by touring. I'm sure they'll take good care of you.

There is some speculation that the incentives will be changing in July. When working with my guide, there was some indication that it COULD happen. Of course, nothing is confirmed.

I was led to believe that SSR was close to selling out of current inventory. In that case, they would begin selling 'pre-construction' SSR units. Most likely, these would have better incentives but you wouldn't be able to use the points for a year.

Take it with a grain of salt---it could have just been a sales ploy... hard to say at this point.

But if you've already figured out your vacation for this year, waiting might actually work in your favor.
