? about ID for a toddler

We were in WDW 3 weeks ago and have 3 kids: 7, 5 and 3 yrs old. We used the Whose Shoes IDs and loved them. The bracelets and dog tags would not have worked for us because my kids would have just played with them and would have taken them off and lost them!

Several years ago when we took our nieces (2 and 4 at the time) we were told that the first thing CM's do with a lost child is check their pockets for identification papers. So we included a note with our names, cell phone numbers and resort info that we pinned inside the girls pockets. You might want to contact someone at Disney to see if there is a standard procedure for trying to identify a lost child. I pray you won't need it but it's always best to plan ahead.

When my kids were little I had that info written on the back of a small recent family picture that I would put in their pocket or fanny pack. I figured that this way the CM would know who they were looking for (parents). The kids could just point to one of us in the picture and say, "Mommy" or "Daddy".

I will be purchasing shoe ID tags for DS, who will be almost 3 when we go. I will also be using address labels to print out pertinant info (Name, Mom & Dad's name, resort, etc.) I will put those labels on the inside of his shirt and shorts each day. These ideas came from my travel agent who is also a WDW lover. ;)

I used large address labels! I filled one out for each day with my hubby's first and last name, his cell# and our hotel name. I put one on the back of DS 2's shirt everyday (so he couldn't remove it). I had soooooo many people telling me what a good idea it was and they wished they had thought of it too! Plus, it's very inexpensive and easy to travel with!!!! Have fun!!!

I didn't think about this until last-minute, so I made my own shoe tags by printing the info in small font on a small piece of paper, hold-punching it, laminating it and tying it to the shoe laces. We also put the info in his pocket.
Another thing DH and I did was to require a "confirmed verbal handoff" LOL for who "had" DS at any time. Seems that most of the losing kids stories at WDW (all with happy endings, BTW) :) involve one parent thinking the other parent has the child.

I printed out Disney suitcase lables (the small ones) wrote our information on it and will have each child put it in their pocket. I have a new one for each day we are there. :D
