Would be a reasonable amount to pay for DVC for us? We're pretty much an every-other year kind of family, if that. We have five of us. The most important issue to us is a good pool area. Other than that we don't care so much. How many points would we need? Ballpark for what they're going for these days?
Thanks!

This really depends on many things, such as when you travel, how long you stay, where you want to stay, size of accommodations, etc. I just did a quick thing for October 7, 2006 to October 15, 2006 (so that include a Friday night stay and 2 Saturday night stays - so 8 nights).

For a 2 bedroom unit, you'd be looking at 288-343 points (depending on the resort). If you were to say 300 points, you'd need to get at least 150 points so that you could go every 2 years with banking and/or borrowing points. These are rough figures, but I think direct from DVC you are probably looking at around $15K, and via resale you could be somewhere around $13-15K...

Need a few more details to give any type of accurate response.

Vascubaguy summed it up perfectly. Try using the point charts calculator at the top of the screen. Play around with stays and resorts at different times of the year. What ever you come up with for points you would need 1/2 that amount if you go every two years. But different resorts and the time of year can effect how many points are necessary...remember Aprill vacations and Christmas will carry the highest point value for any stay. So if April vacation is the planned time you may want to make sure you have enough points to cover that stay.

Also, you need to know WHAT constitutes a "great pool" for you as well. Many here feel BCV has the best pool, but the new slide at OKW is making that a good choice as well, and BWV has the "kiester Coaster". All the DVC resorts have more than one pool too. We actually prefer the smaller "neighborhood" pools at OKW to the larger busier one.
