I called Disney earlier to find out pricing for splitting our upcoming stay between 2 hotels and was informed that I wouldn't be able to do this because I was on dining plan and because the dining plan was tied to the number of days you buy a ticket for I would have to buy a 4 day pass and a 3 day pass which definitly cost MUCH more than a 7 day pass. this just doesn't ring true for me. Isn't the dinnig tied to the number of nights booked not the number of ticket days bought? I'm confused.

Because Disney requires a package to get the Dining Plan, you would have to purchase two packages to split your stay. So, if you bought your tickets with your stay, you'd have to buy a ticket for each stay to get the dining plan with each resort.

You could do like you planned, but you wouldn't have the dining plan for the second resort.

The dining plan is tied to the number of room nights, not tickets. To get the dining plan on both parts of a split stay, you'd have to purchase a package w/at least a 1 day MYW ticket for each person in the room. So I think it is more expensive for this type of stay vs. just staying at one resort since you have to buy the minimum 1 day ticket for each resort package if you're wanting dining for both resorts.

i have a split stay coming up - 1st part is a pkg - 4 nights w/ 7day MYW and DDP, then 2 nights room only. The cost of one day tix for each of us negated the benefit of the dining plan for the last two nights.

another option, which i am doing because the math is working in my favor for this, is updating my MYW to an AP and my room only reservation is booked with an AP discount. then you could purchase the DDE. of course, you would have some number crunching to do to see if it makes sense for your case.

Hmm, definity an idea, can i upgrade just my pass to an AP or do i have to do my whole party? no dining on the 2nd part of the stay tho, right? Is there any AP/DDP deal?

Most folks trying to upgrade the included admission to an Annual Pass have reported that they are prevented from doing so until the end of their trip (or face losing their credits on their whole reservation), though someone has claimed that they were able to find someone willing to do that. (I'm skeptical about that, though, given the lack of corroberation.)

There is no AP/DDP deal.

i've heard several people have no problem upgrading to AP at the beginning of their stay. they simply remove the ticket from the room key. you use the AP for park admission and the room key for DDP. some have encountered problems at one guest services location, but did just fine at another location the same day. i have an early flight, so i have alloted time to take care of this before heading into any parks on arrival day.

to answer your other question, only one person in the party needs to have an AP to get a discount. i'm not certain, but i think you can book up to 3 rooms with that one AP. there is a lot of information on mousesavers on AP discounts.

no, you cannot get the DDP with an AP. you can book the second portion of the trip as a pkg and order 1 day MYW tickets for everyone on the reservation and save them for future use, but if you want DDP on your next trip, you are still going to have to buy tickets so it may not make the most financial sense. We planned our more expensive TS meals during the beginning of the trip when we have the DDP - for the last two days (w/o ddp) we are having TS breakfasts which of course are cheaper. we planned for the latest seating and are treating it more as a brunch.
