Learning to read is a process. Not every kid learns the alphabet before kindergarten. What used to be taught in first grade is now taught in kindergarten and some kids are not ready for the formal process of learning at that age. OP, you don't have to be a certified teacher to teach reading and other school subjects. However, you have to be knowledgeable and pick a plan that fits your daughter's style of learning in order for homeschooling to be successful. I am a certified teacher and I homeschool one of my kids because he was a late reader. However, I have met plenty of other parents who successfully homeschool their kids without a teaching certification.dean556 said:my DD just started k5.so far she hates it and i hate sending her screaming every morning have been thing about homeschooling her but where do I start?
I also dislike the way she is getting taught she doesnt know her abc's yet not all of them and they are teaching words and having spelling test???
is there is anyone out there that could point me in the right directions?
thanks
Good luck
