About Guardians of The Galaxy

Anyone else loves this attraction (I would even go ahead and say it's my favorite) but hates the pre-show? As someone that could care less about the story it just feels extremely long. Also Terry Crews' jokes fell flat in the room I was, almost felt embarrassing and cringy. I just wish we could get the option to skip it.
The pre shows felt excessive on this one IMO. It’s obviously strategic for queues but still a bit much. My motion sickness wasn’t a fan of this coaster at allll though so luckily I don’t have to deal with either again. 😂

I think the pre-show is too long but understand the need. What I especially dislike is the cattle car feeling that results once you're out of the regular queue and everyone is funneled into open rooms. It's like when 4 lanes of highway traffic have to merge into 1. It was especially hard for my SIL who is in a wheelchair. Not pleasant looking at so many derrieres in such close proximity.
this as well, it feels you're just being herded

I think the FOP preshow is awful… can’t stand that guy. LOL but it’s so worth it for the ride
I rewatched Avatar last night and all his lines come from the movie from sigourney weaver's character. instant flashback to the ride. lol he just delivers them awkward i feel. i don't mind it. i like the preshows cause it just breaks things up. when you rope drop something like FOP it can be annoying cause you are in that "rope drop high mode" lol

i really like the guardian pre ride show. anything guardians or thor cracks me up. i'm so easily amused by all of them. one is funnier than the other.

I hate it when a line gets turned into a bundle and then back into a line. I find it so stressful trying to keep the family together and not get trampled on.

If they kept it as a separate room but had rows for people to stand in it would be so much easier. Just follow the lines, stop and turn to face Terry. Then file off into the next room. Would speed up the unloading and probably loading of the room too as you eliminate confusion.

I loved the pre-show, totally made the experience more exciting. But I can understand it getting stale if you've already been on the ride several times.

I liked the preshow, but agree the open room leading to a herding back into a line is not ideal. The first time we were on the 'wrong' side of the room, which turned out to be a good thing. The next time, we tried being on the 'right' side closer to the exit, and I question the wisdom of that move. We might have saved a few minutes in line, but the herd was intense.
Haunted Mansion does a similar thing, but it doesn't feel as difficult; probably because the stretching room is smaller.

It's definitely too long. You finally get to the end of the line and have to stand still for another 15 minutes.
Taking away the preshow is not going to make the wait any shorter. Disney is just trying to give you something to do till you get to the main attraction. They could make you stand in a boring line like most other amusement parks where you stand in between plain stanchions and chains.

But Disney usually doesn't count the preshow and small queue after in the wait times, so it can be deceiving. Also it means a worse Lightning Lane merge point.

A thousand times THIS^^

Agreed - a number of places they do that! Haunted Mansion is really bad, because you have to stay together in the dark! TOT, RnRC, Test Track - all do a similar approach.

From what I've read, everyone here seems to get how the okey-doke works. What blows my mind is how many people don't understand the okey-doke while they're in line. During the FoP preshow, I've heard multiple grown people say things like "the line wouldn't be so long if they'd cut out all this crap". I tried to explain it once as a distraction while you're in a holding pen which you would be in anyway, with or without the distraction. I don't think the person understood, so I left it alone.

As long as you know it’s not adding to your wait. It’s just giving you something to do (in their mind) while you wait. Your wait time would still be the same with or without the pre show. Without it, you’d just be standing in line doing nothing. Looking and listing at nothing but other guests/your phone. Which you can still do here. So, really, no difference. I’m sure everyone here can tune stuff out, (ask your kids/SO, etc)

Since I thought about it more, I think I don't like Guardians specifically because it's such a tease. You have two shows in a row that both go on for a long time, then a decent sized queue after. Compare that to the Haunted Mansion, where you have one show and are on the ride within 5 minutes after it lets out. So you are waiting the same amount of time, but Guardians make you think you've reached the end only to surprise you with an extra 20 to 30 minutes. I'm sure some people prefer each design, and it's not as bad when you know what to expect, but the first time I rode Guardians it felt like the two shows dragged on for longer than the line.

Yes...wish there was an option to skip. Also hate the preshows that just throw a bunch of ppl together from a line just for them to have to race to get back in line. It's annoying for sure.

ETA: Id be fine with any preshow if they kept you in a line. - The way it used to be for Great Movie Ride.

I tried saying I was claustrophobic to skip it, it didn't work. I think they do let you skip the HM stretching room if you say something like that.
you don’t have to say anything to skip the HM room, you just ask. Of course, i have young children and the stretching room would traumatize them and make them not want to ride HM. One time one of the in-character CM’s called me a “coward.” That was funny.

Extra 20-30 min?
That’s the entire wait time from the time you tap in till the time you ride for the avg day
Only once in over 20 rides have I waited longer, well twice
On NYE we waited right at 60 min late in the day and once one side was down and the entire wait was close to 45 min.
The wait after going through the 2nd preshow, after Drax said now I want some cake toast, is about 5 min

That's not my experience. 45 minutes before the preshow, 10 minutes in the preshow, then about 15 between exiting the second one and getting on the line.

Every ride? Note to self, avoid ever going in the same time. I’ve ridden enough at all times of day to feel comfortable saying that’s the exception not the rule. Unless you have your same very bad luck. Lol
