? about floatation devices at resort pools...

We are staying at the BWV in May. My 2 1/2year old DS likes his water wings when he swims. Do they allow them in the pools? How about a small inner tube type thing for my 11 month old DD? Just wondering if I should bother bringing them or not. Is anything available for rent? Thanks everybody!

A little over 3 years ago I brought a little boat type floatation device for my 5 month old. It's the type that competely surround them. We stayed at the WL and didn't have a problem.

This year I'll be bringing my 6 month old's inner tube type bathing suite.

Both are allowed in the resort pools.

BTW--they also sell swim diapers at the resort gift shops if your local store isn't carrying them before you go

I stayed at All Star Movies in August 2001. My DD wasn't a strong swimmer at the time and we brought one of those blow-up tubes for her to use. The first day, no one said anything, but on 2 other occasions we were told that it wasn't allowed. They only accept the lifejackets that the hotel provides. I always wondered what the danger was in having those tubes in the pool. Does anyone know?

It depends on the size of the tubes. The tubes that the OP is referring to are a little over a foot in diameter. The baby is literally secured into it. The problem with the larger tubes is that they can hide a swimmer in distress. A few summers ago a child in my area drowned, they looked in the pool several times when the noticed him missing, and didn't see him because he was hidden by a fairly small childs innertube. If it doesn't attach to the child (like the OP's tube, or water wings or a life jacket) it can be very hazardous.

You sparked a memory.....while at WL another time, they said that they only like to see "approved" floatation devices.

Basically, you can't use a raft, standard innertube, but you could use swimmies, the bathing suites with the innertube inside, etc.

We recently stayed at the WL and the Swan. Both places had free life jackets. They were the rubber covered foam types that look like a vest.
