I have a question hoping someone can answer. I am looking into booking a flight with SW that stops, but I do not change planes. My question is, when it stops do we stay on the plane or do we have to get off? If we have to get off do we get to sit in the same place when we get back on, or do we have to take our carry-ons off and then re-board with everyone else? thanks for any help anyone can give.

my experience with this two weeks ago on southwest was we did not have to get off. they did a count and then we were allowed to move to new seats if we wanted or we could just move around and stretch our legs. hope this helps.

Thank you this does help. I was hoping this was the case, we will be flying with our 5 kids for the first time and didn't want to have to get off and back on. Thanks

Usually you can just stay on the plane, however sometimes maintenance needs to be performed or there is a crew change that requires everyone to deplane and then get back on.

Or if you do have to get off the plane, and I don't know if Southwest does this (other airlines on which I've flown direct flights have), you might be allowed back on the plane before the new passengers board.
