Are the benefits of having this card worth it if you don't use a credit card that often? I heard that you accumulate rewards points based on how much you spend, but I try not to rack up too much of a bill since I'm a broke grad student! :rotfl2: Any insight?

We got the Disney Visa because we were offered a year interest free on purchases and balance transfers. Now, I paid for my classes with the Visa card and would pay the card off with the money I saved. I also did this with my car insurance. I had the money but paid with the card for the points. This worked out well because I really got a lot of reward dollars. Most will tell you that the 1% that the card gives you in return is not that much, and other cards are better because they give you money or airline tickets etc.

I'd never recommend this card to anyone who might tend to carry a balance from month to month. You'll pay far more in interest charges than you'll earn with the measly 1% rewards. I've been in your position before, and the best policy is not to charge more than you can pay off each month on any card, but especially on one like this. If you know that you'll be paying the balance off each month, you might consider it, but I believe that there are cards which have bigger rewards out there. :sunny:

I used Discover for the cashback rewards. And that way you can decide what to do with the money.

If you pay your balance in full each month, it is fantastic! We charge everything (groceries, gas, many utilities, etc), and we have racked up $350 since our trip last March. We're planning to use it for a good chunk of our meals when we return this spring. The APR is high though, so if you carry a balance it is not a good choice.

Thanks for the info! I do tend to pay off balances monthly since I try not to charge too much in the first place. Well, except when Xmas or my sisters' birthday hits....twins give me twice the temptation to spoil!

We got over $500 to spend at WDW on our last trip. We used the card at the supermarket and the gas station. Places we would normally pay by cash or check. So we made sure that these charges were paid off each month.

I know everyone can't do this but we were recently doing a renovation in our home and purchased many of the materials with the card. We paid off these costs monthly with checks from our Home Equity loan, which we got specifically for the renovation. Worked out well since we got money back, which we would not have normally gotten any other way.

If you know that you are going to go to Disney in the near future this is a good car to have. As long as you pay off the balance, you can charge things you wouold be buying anyway. My DH and I charged things for our last trip and we ended up with $450 to spend at Disney. We actually have about $45 left on one reward card which we will use this Dec. Its nice to have the reward card to hand the CM to pay for things instead of digging into the cash in your wallet.

I seem to be int he same club as a lot of other people. I use my card every week for groceries, gas, etc and pay it off everymonth so that I can eran maximum reward dollars. I think I'm up to $455 or so. And we aren't going to Disney for another 15 months. I figure we should have a least $700 by time we go. It's really great if you can pay it off each month. Also, you don't need to be going to Disney in the near future for it to be worth it. Because the reward dollars are good for 5 years you can save for a few years before you go. Or if you're not going at all you can spend them at disneyshopping.com.
