?? about Digital music recording device

Not sure if I named it right. DS asked for one for Christmas. It's a small recorder that he can take to concerts with him to record, then burn a CD (I think that's what he said). He's a music major, and so the concerts are orchestral type, not rock concerts, and he says it produces good quality. Anyone know any brands to recommend? How much are they? I heard 80-100 dollars.
