I think that I know the answer to this question but if you can't eat your dessert with your meal, can you get a dessert later on in the day? I'm assuming the answer is a big fat no. :( We could always order a dessert to go, I guess, but then you are stuck carrying it around all day. Any suggestions?

Sure cant because its not a entree, snack, and drink credit. Its a TS credit.

At the TS meals, once or twice I did take the dessert to go. You can ask for fruit instead.

At the CS meals the desserts were mostly pre packaged in to go packages.

there are some desserts you can get "to go" but often the best desserts are fragile - like cheesecake, or covered in whipped cream, etc. and they need refrigeration to keep. And unless you're at your resort, or heading back right after dinner, who wants to carry a dessert around, even if you get one that won't melt in the heat. A couple of times, DD got prepackaged brownies or cookies as her dessert -- after a couple of hours in her sling bag they did not look very appetizing...

You can request fruit for dessert, but what we saw most of the time at the table service restaurants, when you ask for fruit, you get served a bowl of berries with whipped cream, or a fruit compote...they don't hand you an apple that's easy to carry around.

TS: No, never. You cannot separate a TS credit into entree and dessert components. You must order both courses in the same transaction.

Some CS allow you to order ice cream and pick it up after you finish your meal so it won't melt while you eat your entree. There may be a time limit to pick up the ice cream. Any given CS may allow you to do this, or may not. The only other option is packaged desserts that you can carry.

We took our deserts to go several times - it worked out fine. I took a ziploc to the parks for several reasons each day and put the deserts from our CS meals in that (usually a pre-packaged cookie or brownie). As long as I wrapped them well in a napkin and then in the platic bag we were good to go to have them for a snack later in the day. We also took desert to go from a TS restaurant but it was a resort restaurant and we were headed back to our room. Also note buffets don't let you take your desert "to-go".

We encountered this at Pop food court last week, when DN got a milkshake for dessert. The time limit (90 minutes from order) was posted on the receipt, then after lunch he showed the receipt to pick up the goodies.

POFQ counter service will also do this to get ice cream or a shake later -- don't remember if time limit was on it, but the CM told us one hour, and bring back the receipt. When they gave us the ice cream, she ripped the top of the receipt in half...guess that's their signal it's been claimed.
