? about Desert Inn and Suites

Someone on here recommended Desert Inn and Suites to me. Any other opinions on it from other? Also, I have looked at reviews on some websites, and one said their parking is 2 blocks away. Surely that can't be right! Please tell me how the parking really is, and if you can see any views of Disney from the hotel.

We stayed there in August 2006 and it's very close to the Harbor Blvd crosswalk to DL. The parking is on site, but there's not much. We had a parlor suite A on the 4th floor near the elevators (which we could not hear) and had a nice view of the DL fireworks from our back window. They also have a deck on the roof for viewing the fireworks.

The rooms were clean and basic. for $89 per night, they were great. I would stay there again, but I am staying at GCH next month on DVC points....

It is a basic place to stay that has a few varieties of small suites. I have stayed twice and it has been fine. Nothing spectacular but the parlor suite worked good for us. It is really close to walk to the parks. The small indoor pool is a cacophony of noise when there are just 3 kids playing in there. I can't imagine when it is full. Parking is very tight in two ways. There isn't enough for the amount of people that stay and the spots are skinny to fit into. BUT we never had to park else where. I have heard of others having to do so. We generally arrive in the ealry morning when the guests checking out are leaving so there are spots. We find one spot and leave the car there for the trip.

We stayed there last year in March. Very basic place, nothing fancy. Parking is VERY tight....I'm not sure how some people got in and out of those spots.
We were not able to see the fireworks from our room, but did use the viewing deck one night. It's ok but nothing like being in the park. I think the worse thing about the place was the pool.......but then again the pool is never a priority to me. Living in Ca we can swim at home, I'm at dl I want to be in the parks not the motel pool. Lat year we got our room for 69/night then 119 for friday night. THe price was ok...we're trying out HOJO's this time around for $59/night. Enjoy your trip.

Just got back from Desert Inn & Suites a few weeks ago & really liked the hotel. The parking is right next to the hotel, actually there are 2 levels - underground & ground level. There are elevators to both.

Nothing really fancy, we stayed there because of the suites (and if you price & reserve them early enough they are very cheap - 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom sitting room w/fold out couch - $119 thats 5 beds (if you really want to count the fold out couch, but my daughter loved it) and because we went in December & they had an indoor pool.

Very nice employees, very helpful when we had questions - easy check out & in, etc.

It is 2 bldgs down from being right across from the main entrance of DL. That is how close it is from DL. Still a walk, but from what I heard & saw, its closer then some of the actual DL hotels.

I would recommend & I just got back.

We got Parlor Suite C2 for $129/nt - this is 2 seperate rooms, 4 queens, 2 bathrooms.

This will be our first time staying there but we were looking for close, inexpensive & simple - I think they can deliver.

Small parking spaces scare me only bc we probably won't arrive until 2 or so, but it will be a Wednesday so maybe it will be less full? Here's hoping!

We just stayed there in December. In my opinion, a great chioce. A very moderate hotel but definitely adequate and great on the budget. It's literally a 5-6 minute walk to the turnstiles of both parks. The suites are good. Breakfast is just ok. They do have cereal and pastries now. We could see the matterhorn from our room and some of the fireworks. The viewing balcony is good but of course you don't get the disney music to go with it. The parking situation is this... 1 car per suite, even if it is a two room suite. this causes a problem for big or multiple families who arrive in more than 1 vehicle. The spaces are fairly tight but I did see many large vehicles that fit so I guess it all works out. the other lot you heard about is for people who have more than 1 car or I guess happen to arrive really late. The room was clean and service was good. Go for it...

OK just booked TODAY both a B suite and a C-1 parlor suite for September. Check the website the rates for fall are UP! Act fast they go fast if there is a convention in town.

I called the motel directly to ask if they have air conditioning units in the bedroom and separate living room (since DD or one of us will sleep in there because they charge $6 a day for a crib!). He said no, just the bedroom has air conditioning. The living room just has a fan. We got hot really easily; so I don't know how that would work for us. Do the air conditioners really reach that far, through just a doorway?

The air conditioners should reach into another room but you won't feel the direct air from it. Just make sure the person in the room with the unit doesn't mind it being chilly.

We stayed there in Oct. 2003 while it was under remodel, wasn't bad rooms were clean and we had a view of the fireworks also. Didn't have to park, but the relatives I was with did and it did look really tight (maybe 35 spots to park and I don't know how many rooms maybe 200).

Do both bedrooms have airconditioning if you book a parlor family suite?

I just booked a C-1 Parlor Family Suite for $109 a night. My first Disney reservation!!!

is it better to call there hotle directly? is there a 1800 number dose any one have it (tho we have pph booked my fionce says find a good naboir one for just in case. becouse weve decied if pph dosne have better deal then we have to stay off site. mainly becouse the extra 1000 could be used better places. he says he'll buy me my choclate strawburrys

We had one of the parlor suites that had the bedroom and the parlor. There is indeed no AC in the parlor. I slept in the parlo. There is a fan in the middle of the wall that pulls the cool air into the parlor. The parlor is small so doesn't need a lot of cool air to bring the temp down. It worked pretty good. I always travel with an extra fan and I had that on as well and it was fine. This was in July when the temps outside were in the mid 90's each day.

No. You are never going to get the best rate over the phone. Check on their website.

I have to agree with this. Using the net is convienient and you do not have to deal with a person being paid minimum wage but have always gotten a better deal by phone. For some reason I never get got results with Expedia, Orbitz, etc. Even with TA's, they can only book what is available to them.

2 weeks before our trip last month, the website showed $89 a night and some nights during our trip were sold out. When I called the hotel, I was given a rate of $69 and was able to book the nights I needed.
