I have sent out 2 care packages and am wondering since the war has started if I should continue to send them, will they get them?? I adopted 2 service men from operation military pride and I want to continue to send them things but I'm just a little confused now. Will there mail just sit somewhere and wait on them...I hope some of you military moms can help me...
Thanks

Hope

I asked something similar and was told I should still send them :)

I was wondering the same thing. Our nephew is in Kuwait and I was hoping to send him a package. Also, his birthday is mid-April...how long does it take a package to get from here to there? (Or, how long DID it take BEFORE the war?)

Justhope-

Keep sending them. It may take some time for mail to catch up with them, but anything will always be welcome. Stuff from home makes all the difference when you are away/deployed. Even if it is just a silly postcard to say you are thinking about him/her is great.

If you cannot guess, I speak from experience as both a military member and spouse. When I deployed to Desert Storm, I was told my mailing address in advance. I gave it to my parents, and my mom sent a Care Package even before I left the US. It got there the day after I did. It was a very nice surprise!

When hubby was deployed post-Sep 11 and over the holidays(leaving me with a 3yo and 4 week old), I sent him stuff at least once a week.

Thanks for supporting our troops!

Thank you all for your very quick replies. I can't imagine having a loved one over there right now. Its so stressful to think about all those men and women that you don't know but to have someone that I am so close to would be so scary. my nphew just joined the Marines so I guess I am about to find out, huh?

Hope

I have a couple of questions too.

Should we be sending them priority mail? Will they get there that much sooner? I sent 2 pkgs. this morning, and reg. mail and priority mail were only about $2.00 a piece difference. I went ahead and sent them priority, but I'm not sure if it really makes a difference. Doesn't the post office only take them so far and then the military takes them the rest of the way? If someone can clear this up I would appreciate it. :D

Priority Mail will get it to the APO office in 2 days - after that, it's out of the hands of the U.S. Postal Service, and into the hands of our military.

I've been shipping packages weekly to our son and I've been using Priority Mail.

We were told earlier this week by our Family Support Officer that we should continue to send mail and packages. Even though our soldiers are no longer at their base camp, the mail will accumulate there for them, and when they return it will be just like "CHRISTMAS". ;)

Hi Patty,

How are you holding up? We've kept Bobby and all the other troops in our prayers. I'm glad we're still able to send out care packages!! I got Bobby's Triscuits today (along with some other things!!!). Hang in there.
Christine
