My husband really likes naan bread, but we noticed it comes as a bread sampler to be purchased separately. If you order a tandoori meal, does it accompany it as well?

No. You have to buy all the naan separately. You can buy the bread "sampler" and ask for it all to be naan, but none of the entrees come with naan. We thought that was kind of a rip off. Every other Disney restaurant gives free bread. And so does every Indian restaurant. So we thought it was weird.

Yes its a rip off! We ordered the bread sampler and it is OK. We love Naan bread with our food, but are not going to order it this year. We were stuffed anyway. The main dishes were yummy, we ended up not ordering dessert because we were full. This time we will skip the bread and save room to try the desserts which are included in the Dining plan anyway :)

:) We also purchase it from Wal-mart at home. DH just likes it plain and we have ordered it in addition to a continental breakfast at AKV-K.

We love the bread sampler at Sanaa. Honestly I could make a meal out of that and another appetizer. I've never been to an Indian restaurant where I live that served free naan???

Our Indian restaurants serve Naan and chutney with any entree, plus basmati rice mmmmmmm. Its ok, we need to save room for dessert. It IS pretty good Naan if you do order it. Just not worth $9.00 :lmao:

My husband has traveled to India several times for business, and the meals he's had have always included naan bread. When I looked on allears and found the menu had the naan bread listed only as the bread sampler, he found that odd and contradictory to how traditional Indian meals are served. Since we were curious, I decided to go to the Dis experts and ask. Upset to hear it doesn't accompany your meal. We will be on the dining plan which doesn't include an appetizer, so I guess if we want it we'll have to pay for it separately. Bummer! My husband will be frustrated to hear this info.

Whether Indian restaurants do or should serve free naan is kind of a moot point since Sanaa isn't an Indian restaurant. I do think it's weird that they offer NO bread to the table, though.

Also note that you get 3 pieces of Naan for $8.99. Does not work out well for a family of 4. We ripped up the 3 pieces and shared. But like the last poster mentioned it isn't entirely an Indian restaurant. We asked for our meals served spicy, hotter than the average way they make it and they assured us that they would do that. Nope not even close, they were so mild. Very flavorful, but not our idea of Spicy. Sorry to go off topic, just want you to realize that it is not traditional indian food :sad2:

On our last visit to Sanaa we first ordered the bread sampler that came with the sauces/spreads. However, we loved the naan so much and we were able to order to order that by itself (3-4 pieces). But as PP's have mentioned it did make us too full for dessert.

When I was there in December, I was told that you could order bread by the piece. I am not sure what the price was just for a piece of bread.

When we ate at Sanaa for lunch this past summer, DS ordered the tandoori chicken and I know it came with some kind of bread because he made a sandwich out of it. He's a teenager, so he ate his meal so fast, I can't remember if it was Naan. :) It was a some type of flat bread for sure though.

DD and I did lunch with an animal specialist at Sanaa in January and they had the bread sampler out with ALL the spreads. That was really fun to try all of them. Delicious!

So maybe it might show up after all. I'll inquire before we place our order to see if we need order it. Another poster mentioned being able purchase one piece at a time; that option would be great if it doesn't come with the tandoori food.
Thanks for the help everyone!

the lunch menu has a sandwich that comes on Naan bread, it looks good! BUT all the entrees do not come with any bread. I wonder too how much per piece?? If the app comes with 3 for $8.99 plus the dips, wonder if they will still charge almost $3.00 per piece. I am going to find out in April :lmao:

Let us know when you get back. :)

We DID make a meal out of it and another thing.

And none of the Indian restaurants that I've been to have just given it to you; it's always an extra item on the menu.

We have not eaten at an Indian restaurant local to us so I can't base any experiences off that. However, my husband has traveled to India for business several times and he has always had it served with every meal he has eaten. When he saw it listed as a separate appetizer from the meal, he found that odd because that's different than what he's experienced/accustomed to in India. Either way, it won't be a deal breaker for us. Our reservations are set and we're looking forward to trying it.

I would get the bread sampler with the dipping sauces and ask for all naan. It was so good. The whole family enjoyed it!

Some of the lunch entrees are served on naan bread (as part of the dish, not as a separate accompaniment).

I love the bread sampler at Sanaa and always buy one, even if that means I eat it instead of a full entree.
