? about borrowed points

I was wondering what happens if...We borrowed points from next year to go on vacation for November 4. We have to cancel now. What happens to those points?

I *believe* that the points will stay in your current UY. Also, you will not be able to bank them since they are borrowed points.

Yes, Donald is #1 is correct.

Banked and borrowed points have to be used in the Use Year they were "moved" into. They will expire at the end of that Use Year.

Assume same "holding" status rule applies if you cancel within 30 days correct?

MS was very nice the first time I inquired about borrowing points by stating that they are a "final transaction"...you cannot decide after that to move them back...They made sure as a new member that I understood that!

Jerseygal makes an important point in her post :
If your trip is to begin on November 4 you must cancel 31 days or more before that date or the points will go into Holding Status - they would still need to be used by the end of this Use Year but then there would also be other conditions attached to the points - most important being you can only make a reservation with them at a DVC resort 60 days or less before the new check in date you want. ( they can be used at DL Resort & Disney Collection too but there are specifics as well)

If you cancel 31 days or more before November 4 check-in then the points will not go into Holding Status and will carry no restrictions other than needing to be used by the end of the current Use Year.

If your Use Year is March you have until Feb 28 2009 to use the points that are borrowed.

If you needed to cancel, any current year points could still be banked into the 09 year if you did it at least four months before Mar 1.

Thanks for all the info. I did switch my vacation to Feb. We just sold our house and it looks like we will be movin Oct 24. So, Nov 2 really didn't seem possible.
