I have been researching the DVC info for just a short while. I know that Disney requires you to buy at least 150 ponits then you can add on. We are interested in boardwalk. It is sold out so we are looking at some resales. We were thinking of buying just 100 points. Well I just read on a resale web page that "Disney requires 150 minimum points to be a Disney Vacation Club Member" Now I'm confussed. I thought I just had to buy the 150 if I bought from disney. Do I have to buy at least 150 if I buy resale??? Could I buy 2 seperate contracts that equal 150?? Could I buy them at different times??

Also, I have searched disneys web site for some DVC info. I can only find very little about the DVC program. Is there an official DVC website that gives more info, such as fees, resort maps, amminities, floor plans, pricing, length of contracts ect?? All the info i have been able to obtain has come from this board (which I LOVE) But I really feel I might be missing some important info. I really know so little i don't know what even to ask sometimes!!!!

Thanks!

If your going to buy get what you want. The Saratoga springs resort sounds good.Hey maybe I will add another home resort to my list.

You do not need to buy 150 points if you go through resale. All I have is 60 points at OKW. The only thing that might happen is the Disney will exercise it's ROFR. I have never been treated differently by member services because of my point total. Nobody has even mentioned it. I can make reservation, just like any other member. Hope that helps.

shari2shop, as noted, there is no need to buy 150 points if you go resale. I know several that bought less than 150 resale as their first purchase. The problem I hear when people seem new and also are thinking about buying only a few points is that it makes me wonder if they understand the system enough to know what they want. 100 points will not even get you a studio for a full week once a year. You'd have to use 3 years worth of points to get a 2 BR for a week. That is not to say it doesn't work for some. It works for the people who are willing to go every 2 or 3 years and especially those that will stay for Sunday to Friday only.

In addition to the above links, try the Disney sites for the DVC resorts at Official DVC Resort Page . It will give you cash rates, amenities, floor plans and the like. Good luck.

DVCs website is okay but it doesnt get into the fine details that you feel you need to know about membership. I would call DVC direct and ask for info about becoming a member. They will send you this in the mail. DVC is very low key, no pressure at all. In fact, for us it has been a pleasure dealing with them. DVC pretty much sells itself nowadays so they have no reason to tighten the screws on potential customers.
The info they send will be a little generic, but if you watch the video a couple of times it will explain things too a point that you can ask more questions here.
Once you become a member, DVC will give you a members only website that you can visit for further info along with an annual members book that goes into more detail.
I think DVC requires the 150 pt min. because they know that less pts wont allow you as much flexibility as you need. Resales will let you buy what you want I think. A good question to ask on this forum is how many pts you should buy. Let it be known how much you want to visit WDW.
Good luck in your quest for DVC!
