what is the deal with the fee of 45.00 to 49.00 to go to the beach?

at key west, grand cayman, cozumel, other than transportation why is their a fee ????

200.00 seems a little high to me for a family of 4 to swim in the ocean for a few hours???

any ideas ?/ or info thanks cmatt

I was wondering about this too! I would like to go on a short excursion at Caymen Island, and then go to the beach, but it seems too expensive to do both. Can I go to the beach on my own cheaper?
Thanks,
Stephanie

My guess would be that all these excursions could be done cheaper on your own than through Disney. We did our own excursions on the Eastern cruise and not only did we save money it also gave us more flexibility. Going on the Western in 2003, so i will be watching the boards for cost saving tips.

Not sure about the Western, but we did a beach day excursion on St. Thomas. We were taken to a resort where they had beach chairs reserved for us. We also had use of the hotels anemities-pool, clean bathrooms, sit under their cabana. Our hot lunch was also provided under the open air cabana. With 3 year old twins and DH who's not much of a beach person, we really liked being within the safety and comfort of the resort rather than going to a strange beach in a foreign country.

You are under no obligation to purchase a beach excursion if you want to go to a beach. Some people are more than willing to shell out a few bucks to allow someone else to do all the planning. For those of us who like the adventure of discovery, there's no reason not to do it ourselves (and save money in the process).

Dave when you have time will you go to your pm about beach breaks thanks
cmatt

Disney is also strict on kids ages for some of the excursions. We want to take our DD who will be 5 at the time of our cruise to Stingray city. Disney says no kids under 6 and so I am setting up our own excursion. I was thinking 45 per person was awful high
to swim on the beach and eat lunch. We will probably do our own exploring when we get to Cozumel and Key west. I guess if you have alot of money it would not matter how much you spend on these organized activities. I unfortunatly don't have that much to blow on a day at the beach....... I am just happy to be able to go!!
:D :D

I have been doing my own investigating. From what I have read about the Caymans, nice beaches and snorkeling areas are within walking distance of where the cruise ship docks. I don't know if this is true for Key West or Cozumel, though.

Thanks alot of great info,, Does anyone know this I was just told cozumel, and key west beaches are rock , not sand??

Does anyone know if that correct??? same with Grand Cayman??

thanks cmatt

We went snorkeling in Cozumel in 97 and they took us to a great beach for lunch and it was really pretty. I know that they don't have alot of spacious beaches, but the ones that we saw were very nice with white sand. My ex boy friends sister has a Condo in the Caymans and they say the beaches are breathtaking... I think that it will be really nice. I am excited.... Not sure about Key West???

thanks Michelle, makes me feel better when you can go to your pm ,, i sent you a mess there,

thanks cmatt

Does anyone know how crowded it gets at stingray city at Grand Cayman?

can you move and enjoy it??

do the sting???

will kids like 12 and 13 ?

what about the dophins at cozumel is it worth 105.00 pp ??

thanks cmatt

Ok,
Still not sure how everything works on these boards. Did not realize I could get private messages. I checked it out and I had a couple that I did not know I had. I sent one back to you cmatt!!

Thanks.

I would like to know more about Stringray City also......

I don't know how much info there's goign to be yet, since the Western Cruise doesn't start until May. But I'm concerned about the age restrictions. Are they really that picky? Buzz will be <2 months shy of 6, loves to snorkel, has been jumping in and going under since before he could walk (I have the gray hairs to prove it!). If he can't snorkel, we might as well stay home! Any info appreciated.

:( I feel the same way. Our DD loves the water but she will be only a month away from 5 when we go. Another Diser had wrote on another thread that she had spoken to a CM to set up an excursion and that he said they are very strict on age limits?? Since your child will be almost 6 they may not say anything?? I am just going to set things up on my own. I am bringing my DD own Snorkeling gear along with us and I think from what I read that you can snorkel at Castaway Cay on your own? I wish they would leave it up to the parents on whether we feel our children are capable of doing these type of activities. I know the outside excursions company's do not have a problem with kids over 3 going to Stingray city? Good luck. Hope it works out for:cool:

 BABYJOSIE98 check your pm when you have a chance??

Anyone know about Key West Beaches seems like I was told by a cm at ak that was here from africa that he went to kw on his days off and alot of rocks?? any body know???

thanks cmatt:earsboy: :sunny: :earseek:
