ABD Backstage Magic 4/17 - 4/22/11

Thanks everyone. I was just super excited to find out this trip was available over our spring break (I thought it was not available because the official ABD site stated it was waitlisted) and I wasn't able to book the trip with the WDWradio tour group because they didn't allow kids on that trip.

I posted on the other thread about how excited I was for this and questioned why kids wouldn't belong on this tour --- and that I've become more active on the Disboards because of it.

Well, I got some snarky replies and complained to jeff because he sits two feet away from me in our office ;).

I'm super super super excited about this trip. Thanks everyone!

I just read that thread and I really don't think people were being snarky at all. They were just saying that they prefer to book adults-only trips :confused3 I could see that you got offended by it, but no one was saying they hate kids or insulting them in any fashion, they were just saying that they like enjoying Disney with other adults. And if a company has an adults-only trip and people go on it, how is that being snobbish??

This trip has always been open to everyone - it's not adults only. And we all knew that going in. Who knows, by the time we go there could be 10 more kids booked. As long as there aren't any changes to the itinerary bc of it (which there shouldn't be) I don't think there will be any issues :)

My wife ran into some posters on another thread that said that they prefer tour groups without kids and now we're worried that the people on this trip would rather not have kids either. Please let me know if our 8yo daughter is truly welcome and people won't be secretly be wishing she wasn't there.

Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff and Becky,

When I was looking at booking this trip, I too wanted to bring my son. However, he is 13 now and doesn't want to hang out with his parents anymore. I say don't worry about it, everyone seems pretty nice, and enjoy this special trip with your family. I was looking at old Disney pictures when my son was 2 and 3 years old and the expressions are priceless.

It is going to be a great trip.:grouphug:

I posted this on the London/Paris thread, but since we will all have bag allowances I thought this might be good for all of us.

If ya'll are perplexed as I am about finding the right travel bag to take to Europe, Travel Pro has their rolling duffels on sale in the outlet store. TravelPro is what Pete uses and he has talked about them on the show. I have been a die-hard Eagle Creek Bag user, But I think we may pick up two of these.

Hi BrizMarc!!

As far as I know there is still space available. Kevin (who knows all about this :worship:) is on the Disney Dream right now (it's a though job....) , but I'm sure he'll answer your question as soon as he is back in town!

I can't help you with your second question, but maybe there is someone else that wants to travel solo, but not pay extra!

I really hope it'll work out for you!!

Emiel

Hello everyone! I just wanted to share a picture of DLR with you. I "had to go" this last weekend to get some photopass pictures taken so I could pay the DL price for my WDW photopass pics. Anyhow, this is taken from Mickey's Fun Wheel. I thought it was pretty cool to see the Matterhorn with the snow covered mountains in the back. It was a beautiful day as well! The high was 80 degrees! I wish it was that warm when I was at WDW in December.

What one thing are you looking forward to the most?

Just one? ;)

I think the thing I'm most excited about is the Disney Studios tour and Imagineering. We took the Warner Bros tour last year and LOVED it so I think this will basically put me over the top.

We also can't wait to take our daughter on this trip. She's very into behind the scenes DVD extras, how stuff works in the movies & theater and writing scripts and comics. I know she will be fascinated by all the tours. We're giving her the flip cam to document the trip - I'm looking forward to watching that video when we come home!

I'm also really looking forward to the lunch with Marty Sklar. He's one of those people that would be in my answer to the question: "If you could have dinner with anyone living or dead...." (Walt Disney is the first answer, but Mr. Sklar's on the rest of the list) :worship:

Hey Everyone,

I just changed my flight on the last day to the red eye, so we will have a full day in the park. Does anyone know if we have a ticket to get in the parks that day or is that our responsibility? I thought I saw somewhere that you had a 4 day park hopper, but I can't find it now.

Hi Melissa,

I believe Kevin said that we would have a Park Hopper Ticket for that day (Friday). I'm planning on it and being in the park on Friday... after switching hotels. We leave on Saturday.

I read this from the ABD site:
17) What type of theme park tickets do I receive during this adventure?

You will receive a 4-Day Disneyland Resort® Park Hopper® ticket. This ticket entitles Guests admittance to both Disneyland® Resort theme parks over 4 days, including visits to both theme parks on the same day. This ticket will expire on the Departure Day and is not upgradable or transferrable.

Our flight leaves at 2PM that Friday from Orange County airport. We plan on spending the morning in the parks.

Thanks guys. I'm extremely excited to be able to have another full day in the parks. I will be able to go back and do the must sees one more time before leaving, however being Good Friday it will probably be very busy. It would be really nice if they give out fastpasses for that day.:yay:

Remember at times I might need your daughter as my ride partner... if my wife chickens out:rotfl2: Louise you listening:rotfl:

LOL! :goodvibes I'm quite a chicken myself! Although, we couldn't get Steph on Pirates at DL last year (she was afraid of Davy Jones :sad2:). It was pretty silly - we had to take turns riding it by ourselves. We're making her go on it this year and she knows that! :thumbsup2

I did make her go on Splash Mountain (my first time too - see I am a real chicken) at WDW last year. We got in the front row and she cried a bit at the bottom of the drop - I laughed (I'm a mean mom). She did say she'll go on it again though - so perhaps I have cured her of her fears. --- Me on the other hand, you won't get me to go on certain rides.:lmao:

Maybe start a new thread. There may be others out there who are thinking about going. Just a thought.

WOW I love that photo, awesome snap

Thanks.

What one thing are you looking forward to the most?

The one thing I am looking forward to the most is seeing Walt's apartment. I can't wait for that!

I just decided to join this tour. I was originally looking at the adults only date in October, but I booked a New England/Canada cruise with my sister in October so dedided to do this tour in April. My kids are teenagers and tired of Disney (I must not have raised them properly). I'll be traveling solo and looking forward to meeting all of you.

I'm a Disney geek, grew up in southern california and have been to DL many many times. I now live in Colorado and am a big fan of Disney Cruise Line.

I contacted Kevin to book this date and although he is on the Disney Dream right now he responded and said their is still room and we will finish my reservation when returns later this week.

Can't wait to meet all of you!

Karen
