ABCs of Trip Reporting, Pt. 2-Life Can Be Crappy and Then You Move On (3/7)

I received a prize for round 2! Thank you!

Praying for safe travels. I'm glad you had such a wonderful time -- it sounds like it turned out way better than you imagined.

Last full day here was great!! I got some awesome photos of the Star of India, the USS Midway, and a bunch of other Navy ships in the harbor, and the 3 of us ladies tooled around Seaport Village all afternoon hanging out in the Wyland Gallery, eating ice cream, smelling the salty air then hitting up a drive around Coronado Island. It was swell!!

Dan, I was thinking of doing that actually, for Round 2 prizes, but went with something else. You 6 winners from that round should be getting your prizes in the mail anytime. Rosie, you will get what Round 1 winners got, since you were the only one that was not duplicated in that group- if that makes sense. But, it will take me a bit to get it fixed up for you :)

I've been spending my evening hours spiffing up my photos and have actually written not one, but two updates for you, and they should be ready to post up after I can get on the internet long enough to upload the photos to PB. Maybe from the airport?? So look forward to the continuation/conclusion of Day 4 very shortly! Aren't you excited?!?

Hopefully, I will also be able to start with the Anaheim interlude as well! I"ve got my title and am ready to rock and roll with that one. I should be able to write an intro tonight. So, in short, lots to look forward to coming up!!!

Pray for me as I travel back tomorrow...

Finally , the Boys can see I am one of a kind , not a duplicate:rotfl2:

About the new TR...

I have the introduction written for the Disneyland trip and am hoping to post both it and the next 2! chapters from the airport tonight. Do you all think I should embed that into this one AND throw it up on the DLR forum? Just here? Just over there??

Let me know....

I would like to read it here for sure, but if you put it on the DLR forum, you might gain more readers - I think that area tends to have a whole different group of DIS peeps who are there to defend their territory against those who think the only Disney is WDW!:goodvibes Why can't we all be friends:rotfl2:

hmmm. . .tough one. If it is going to be a mini-Tr with several chapters, I would say on the DLR forum. Just be sure to link us! If it is not very long, I would probably just embed it in this one. So how's that for super helpful non-definitive advice - LOL! Can't wait to hear all about it!

I would say put it here so I can easily find it.;)

I got round 2 prize also which was very quickly taken from me by DS. I put up a good fight and got it back tho. :rotfl:

Just wanted to share my excitement here - Mini DISmeet happening here in my town on Thursday! Sandra(LadyLyon) is coming to visit her parents, and we are meeting up for coffee! She'll be posting her pic so I can recognize her  Anyone else want to come to podunkville and meet us?

Maybe they would let me parachute out of the plane and "drop" in for a cup?

Have a super, wonderful time, Ladies!!!!! Wish I could be there!

A trip to Disneyland, at least for me, is so much more than just a day to ride on rides and eat a bag of popcorn; our family is steeped in Disney history from almost the year it opened in 1955, and our collective memories run deep with not only countless trips to the parks, but also with animators, and the studios. Join with me on an epic tale of one last trip to a magical place for a very special woman, who loves these parks as much as I do. It was my pleasure and privilege to be a part of making some special last memories with 3 other beautiful and dear ladies. Some of what we experienced together I have chosen to keep to myself; some memories are just too precious to be shared. But there were many, many things that I am delighted to bring to you with hopes you can be touched and moved as much as we were. Even as I sit typing this I am misting up at knowing this is the end of a golden era…

But let me start with a brief introduction of who we are so you can follow along better.

The star of our show (Walt always had his mind on presenting a show) is my dear, and always in my mind, incredibly beautiful Aunt Cherrie. She was my “idol” for as long as I remember; her gift of gracious hostessing, making her home a luxurious, inviting place, and her impeccable attention to detail in fashion and presentation of self were things I have always admired in her. In short, she always “had it together”. Given that, I find it incredibly ironic that she is now entering the advanced stages of ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Here is a link if you are interested in learning more about this horrible affliction.

Official Website of Lou Gehrig's Disease

She still “has it together”. Even with her body falling apart, she gives glory to God every day for the time she has, has more joy in her life than most people I know who have a working body and all the money they could ever need, and she still wouldn’t be caught dead without looking like a million bucks.

Next is my mom. I love her more than life itself. She is my confidante, and another woman of great faith that I admire greatly. Aside from her mother (my grandmother for those of you who are keeping score), she was the one responsible for passing on her love for all things Disney. As you’ll see in this little TR, there was a BUNCH of reminiscing of Disney memories. Mom and Aunt Cherrie figure that they have been coming to Disneyland regularly since 1956. I hope I can pass along some of the conversations I overheard during our 3 days together. Some, I can guarantee will simply amaze you!!

Of course, there is also myself. I give you warm greetings.

(that was pretty random, but I think some of you will find it at least a little amusing)

I am 44 when I can remember how old I am. Ask my regular readers, and you’ll learn I often forget my age and “repeat” a year here and there. I have 5 GREAT kids from 9 to 20 who love a trip to the parks as much as I do. Beginning this fall, I am headed back to school to become an RN, so I can make more bucks to burn at, well, I’m sure you’ve already guessed by now. I’ve been going to the Anaheim park since I was 2 or 3, so that would be since about 1970. My favorite park is still EPCOT’s World Showcase, but will take any opportunity I can get to be able to go to ANY Disney park.

Lastly, for one of our 3 days my aunt’s and mom’s cousin, Carol, came and met us for the day. She was one of the “trio” who would spend summer days at Disneyland. Mom, Aunt Cherrie and Carol spent many a good time romping around together making those same memories I will pass along on our journey. She still lives in Burbank, only minutes from the original Disney studio, and has some really cool personal history herself from the mid- 50’s at the Disney company. I hope they are as fun for you to learn about as they have been for me!

I like to take my time in the story telling, so hope you will bear with me as I try to re-create for you,

Pee Before Pooh

Wha…??!!?? Yeah, I just had to use it. It was the theme of our trip. Number 1, that is. With Cherrie having less and less “function”, and me with my morning coffee consumption, and mom with her 4 gallons of iced tea with lunch, it was a party in the lady’s room- again, and again, and again…. But funnier than that, it was actually a line my aunt blurted out as we were on our way to ride Pooh. Once again, for the dozenth time that morning already, Cherrie slurs out- “So, let’s pee before Pooh!” It was instant belly laughing, as we all looked at each other hardly believing she actually said it, knowing full well the pun she had just made. It was hilarious, and maybe you had to be there, but seriously, I still snort laugh when I think about it.

So there you have it, a tidy little introduction to our trip on June 22, 23, and 25th. Yes, we skipped a day, and the cast changes a bit, but more on that later. For now, just click that reply button and tell me you’re ready to laugh, cry and be amazed. Better yet, join in the conversation and tell me what you think along the way; it’s WAY more fun to have others along for the ride- afterall this may just be:

First of all, safe travels home, Liesa. I'm glad that you decided to imbed your DL TR within this one. Not that I wouldn't have followed you anywhere... :goodvibes

Your intro had me choked up...I'm so happy for you and your family that you got this one last trip. One of the things that makes Disney so wonderful is how it spans generations and brings so many people together.

As always, looking forward to more.

Awww, thanks, Tina! I can't even check in for another 2 hours, so here I sit. Instead of going up to Balboa Park, I just turned the car in and decided to sit and surf. Been a long time since I've been able to. I can't even imagine the amount of time it's going to take me to catch up around here!! :scared1:

One at a time, I guess...

Anyway, my flight is actually not until 7:15 so I should be able to make great progress !! :)

I'm so happy to be writing this TR- it was truly a wonderful trip in almost every way!!

looking like a million bucks.

After following you for so long, I feel priviledged to "meet" your mom. She looks like a sweetheart.
