Anyone notice a difference, or are they same-same?

ABC Stores seems pretty much the same pricing to me everywhere, which is basically convenience stores pricing.

That's why I mainly shop at Target, WalMart, and Costco for the groceries to bring to my TimeShare unit to cook.

Great3

I found them pretty much the same across the islands. And for food prices, they’re not super cheap but found the beer to be a pretty good value for the selection. Also found souvenirs to be pretty close to Walmart prices, but not quite as low. Great selection overall though—of everything—if you don’t have, you know, a month to spend in Hawaii…..8-) (I couldn’t find the jealous emoji, @Inga!)

When we were there in September we stayed in Waikiki at the surfjack for 2 nights... ABC right next to it.

I was wondering the same thing when I realized the market by Aulani was an ABC... I could only remember the price of one thing...

Coors light 12 pack was $1 cheaper at the Waikiki vs Aulani. Hehe.

Doesn't mean everything was more, just felt like it to me cuz the beer was.

(As other posters suggest, we made a trip or 2 to Costco and target for provisions)

Have fun!

Well I could definitely be off by $1 or two here and there….those numbers don’t even register when you’re paying Hawaii prices for everything for a couple of weeks! You just get numb to it after a while! LOL

I think that depends on a few things:
1) how many people you have in your party - if you have a whole family, I agree. If you have just the two people, not sure.
2) if you rented a car. No cheaper if you have to pay for car and gas!
3) if you have an active Costco membership - we haven’t been there since pre-pandemic so not worth revising membership!

Definitely agreed, if you already have a rental car. If no car, I would just get stuff from ABC stores as well, the cost of car / gas / parking just to go get grocery is not worth it. For me, I always get a car in Hawaii, can't do the island any other way. I maybe stay put in either Waikiki or Ko Olina for 1-2 days each , and I am out & about all the other days.

But if no car, just get stuff from ABC, prices are reasonable enough when you are on vacation!

Renting a car through Costco usually pays for the membership in the savings for the car.

Never thought of renting a car through Costco, honestly, didn't even know they offer this service. I will be looking into this. Thank you for this helpful information.

Not only are prices usually cheaper, but the biggest perk is that the second driver is free with most companies.

We went last March. I booked through Costco on January 30th, when we decided to go. We paid $360 through Costco for the week. All other sites, including the agency sites, were charging at least $200 more than that. DH was giving me grief for booking a car that early but when he saw later how outrageous car rental got, he was eating a bit of crow.
