ABC 8x8 - POSTAL!!!!!!!!!!

Checking in.
Group 1 U- I'd like to do Us -would that work for everyone? I have a cute idea with Lilo and Stitch
Group 1 V- I'm thinking Vintage (idea from the elements swap, but she's not using it) would you have pictures to use for that? If not, I'm still thinking....
Group 2 G-Goofin Around- supplies purchased and sketched
Group 2 H- Happiest Place on Earth-

Thanks, Vicki

I like Us.

I can work with vintage. I have some photos from the Town Expo Hall that would work well. Also, I think some of the Main St area would work well too.

I really like the Keep swimming. It could be used for any picture from the seas or resort pool photos.
I don't think I'll ever get a photo of Jasmine, we don't do princess meals:rolleyes: . So Just Imagine or Jumping water. The water one might be easier for you to find paper & embellishments for.
Flowered topiaries is an easy one to find photos for.

Okay, there are my many cents.:rotfl:

I love the jumping water *but that is because my kids are forever jumping into water whereever they can find it... but they are NOT allowed to jump into the fountains or water ponds or the like.. so it's not my family that dirties the water fountains at the world..

Keep swimming is perfect.. love it..
Don't take my picture.. OMG! I have lots I can put in that statement!
Flowered topiaries.. I like that one... :)

We all checked in. Next check in is 6/4.

I realize that these are just 2 weeks apart and that many of us may not have any concrete progress, I just want to make sure that it doesn't get forgotten. I appreciate your cooperation.

I really like Vintage and would have used it for the elements if I hadn't come up with Vroom too!!! I think pictures from Main Street would work well with this. Pictures from the Art of Animation would work too.

I agree with Jumping Water and Flowered Topiaries. Good choices!

I sooo wanted to be able to post some pictures...But I haven't received any the stuff I ordered for this swap (over 3 weeks ago - kinda bummed out). So I guess I will have to start "sketching".

I usually just sit down with everything and "get inspired" (trust me-this isn't what they taugh me in school:laughing: I would never even sketch the canvas first - I would go directly to paint - on a 4ft canvas - they would freak out:lmao: )

I guess I have to try to change my ways (or better yet just go and rebuy everything somewhere else;) ...BUT WHERE???)

Ok enough about me...Back to our regularly scheduled program

I don't sketch either. I get supplies and figure out how to use them......I get matching stuff and cut all my mats 5 X 7 then I trim them done according to what I want to do with them.

Then I just sit down and figure how to lay things out and then I make my title depending on where it will go and how big it will need to be to go there.

I'm a fly by the seat of my pants kind of gal.

Fly by girl here too!

When I first started I sketched, but then I found I changed so much as I went, that I just started to wing it. And yes, I have ruined an element, a piece of paper, or wasted an embellishment; but it just seems to work with creative process better if I have it all in front of me.

So doing the prototypes is new process. I think it is a great learning opportunity for me. So I'm not stressing about that part. It's getting it all done. As soon as those kids get on the bus, I'm throwing some laundry in and getting to work on this.

I honestly had no idea that prototypes were hard -- my process is so different from everyone else's. I am not a creative person by nature. I am more a can follow directions type of person. So if I have "rules" and a topic, I can "sketch" (pencil eraser and ruler -- I can't draw unless I have one of those books that tells me what to do) out a plan. I measure everything to make sure it fits before I purchase anything. I have done entire albums this way -- all sketches done with exactly what photos in what size go on each page, and then after the sketching is done I put it together.

My intent with the prototypes was to make sure we are all working and that no one was surprised by the amount of time it will take to complete the pages. I am surprised by how long it is taking me to finish up the cutting -- I am doing all the cutting for all 6 groups and 1 element group at the same time, but still it is taking me days to complete.

Someone will have to host a swap where it is "required" that I not sketch first...being forced to wing it should be interesting.

I think that it is a good idea to have protoypes. It is insuring that all people stay focused and checked in.

I fully expect that it will prevent problems that have been rampant lately.

Thanks for implementing it.

My protype that I make is my sketch if that makes sense. I guess what I was saying is my sketch is kinda in my head when I am getting supllies, etc and I know what I want to do. Then when I have it - I put it in a 2 gal. bag.....When I make the protoype - I whip out supplies nad make things as it fits on the page - if that makes sense

I don't actually sketch anything either, but I do have an idea in my head as to how I want to do something. Many times, it doesn't work like that because once I sit down to actually put it all together, I'll come up with a different idea or figure out a better way to do something. And, I do sometimes waste paper or elements because what I thought would work didn't or it just doesn't look right.

I like the prototype idea for the reason that it will be a great way to ensure that everyone is on track and not finding out at the last minute that this will take a lot longer than they thought. My hard part with the prototypes is making note of what size I cut things so that when I go back to do the rest of the pages, I remember!!!!

My downfall is the note taking.
Doing the prototypes will definitely help me in that regard for the future.

And it isn't so much as hard as just a new way to do things.
It's a good thing.

I wing it too. I have the idea in my head, safest place for me right now. LOL

If it looks like it will work when I get started, then I run with it. tweaking things here and there. I also do well under pressure. which is why my stuff isn't necessarily late but always down to the wire.

Here is the notebook. It must be some sort of genetic thing -- my 2 sisters and I and now DD -- none of us can leave home without a notebook. Listmaking is a serious occupation for us.
