Abandoned baby at AKL

Also, if late EMH goes 1am, it may take a while to get back by bus. Or from DS.

Edit to add...though I just checked and parks all closed by 10pm last night.

There was a story in the uk-
Where a young woman ‘found’ a newborn & did indeed turn out to be the mother.

I just can’t imagine being handed a baby anywhere-let alone at Disney.

As a pp stated-how surreal will it be to then get up in the morning & go play in the parks?!

We have the safe haven law here, but it doesn’t include Disney hotels so far as I am aware. Glad the baby is OK.

It does not include Disney hotels. Many people have no idea about the safe haven laws, or are afraid they will still get in trouble because locations are hospital, emergency medical center, fireman or firehouse. Or if the person has residency problems they would be afraid. It is strange they chose Disney hotel ............... I kinda wonder if it was a Disney employee that could easily move about through security and knew a baby would be well taken care of from there.

Oh...I thought it was a guest who was handed the baby. I guess a CM on a break is an option.

Though I don't think I'd ever had a baby to someone reeking of smoke...though someone abandoning a baby probably isn't in their right mind anyway.

Was a “guest”. EDIT: We now know it was the mother as well ... so was she staying there?

I don't smoke and we are night people. We'd much rather close down a park then return. With the length it often takes to get a bus we have been known to roll back at 1:30 or so and Disney Springs closes at 2 am so you are rolling back as late as 3 am. So I could see being in front of a hotel that late.

More likely it was a guest on a smoke break, or j7st having gotten back to the resort.
Not commenting on the other as I'd probably get in trouble. :P
Why?

Why is it odd to be up at 2:00am? It’s vacation. The boardwalk closes at 2:00 am. So so many bars in the area (non Disney). Not everyone who stays at Disney goes to bed early or has kids.
This reminds me when I was in Walmart as part of the college program you would see kids in the Walmart at all hours of the day and night.

Not a surprise.
Still, had her original story been true, it's not odd to have guests outside of the resort at 2:00 AM. If you'd ever been around at that hour you'd see it's far from empty

Gotcha. I am usually in bed and not out at 2am. LOL. Even on vacation.

It's a little surprising since Disney has been cutting back on EMH and operating hours and closings after 10 pm are now rather unusual. :duck:

According to this, the woman who claimed she was handed the baby is in fact the baby's mother: https://www.wftv.com/news/local/dis...t-animal-kingdom-lodge-deputies-say/866384642

So sad :( I'm glad they took the mother to a hospital to get checked out too. Labor and birthing is not a joke, as someone who bled out and had to have a transfusion. Add to that the mental state she must be in to have handed her child over, a hospital is where she needs to be as well.
Good news is she did hand the baby over, instead of something much worse happening.

Being a smoker doesn’t make you a bad person?

No, but the stench is not something I'd subject a baby to. Especially a newborn. Brand new lungs really don't need to be exposed to secondhand smoke.

I've actually asked - politely, but firmly - for a different nurse if the one who comes into my exam room at the doctor's smells of smoke.

Something tells me the person that was planning to abandon the baby wasn't giving any thought to the safety of their lungs.

My stepmom is a (casual, nowadays) smoker and a NICU nurse. It bothers me soooooo much.
