Aaron Hernandez

I understand there were issues before he got to the NFL.

But was his bad behavior enabled by the NFL? Or football, in general?

According to his mother, the death of Dennis, Aaron's father, affected his negatively. This was when Aaron was 16. His first real trouble with the law involved a bar fight in Gainesville, FL, in 2007. Aaron was 17. Aaron may have been involved in the 2007 shooting of Justin Glass and Corey Smith, which also happened in Gainesville.

It will be interesting to see what happens with the investigation into his suicide.

I have some questions about it myself.

From what I understand, his cell door was blocked from the inside. (One article I read said "locked" from the inside, but wouldn't the door be locked anyway?) He had put some things up against the door. But I guess when the door was opened (when they found him), those things would've been moved out of the way, right? So how would one be know if this was staged or not?

They also said he had smoked some synthetic marijuana that night. I mean, I'm not so naive that I think that drugs aren't present in prison, but shoot, the way they made it sound was like it was no big deal! "Yeah, he smoked some synthetic marijuana that night too!". :confused3 Where? Under what cicumstances? It does make one question what goes on there.

This same prison has also had some other notorious inmate deaths.

Many things I saw that was way off the day of the aquittal. No smiles, tears yes. His tattoos had meaning. And one for me stuck out. And after his death it basically confirmed it for me. I don't believe he would of gotten an appeal for the Odin Loyd Murder. It is a tragedy all around.

Just seems like if he was going to do it over the 1st life sentence he would have done it 2 years ago when he first went in.

Yeah but why kill him now? Why not wait until he's less high profile? Three months from now, it wouldn't have been as suspicious.

I have no clue where he grew up or what his home life was like but dude just couldn't leave that life behind.

I do believe it wasn't a suicide but set up to look like one. No way he gets acquitted for two murders and then is found dead a few days later. That just doesn't add up.

I've been hearing that from others I've discussed this with too. The timing doesn't make sense because his first conviction was in the midst of the appeals process, so there was still potential hope for him. However, when he was acquitted of the other charges last week, I read that his fiance and young daughter were in the court room and he broke down when he saw his daughter. She's young and did not understand what was happening, and started screaming and crying for daddy as he was being taken away. I imagine that ate at him afterwards, and may have contributed to this if it was a legitimate suicide.

Oh for God's sake - he committed suicide. He was in a max cell. There are cameras everywhere except in the cells, who is invisible enough to get in & out. Oh and also block the door with debris from the outside? No bruising on the body so who overpowered the 6'2" 245lbs former NFL player and left none. Or for that matter how many people would it have taken? It would have taken an army.

He was visited by a convicted armed robber who is now on suicide watch himself - pact maybe?

As far as his appeal, from the evidence presented pretty sure it would have been denied. And that leads to why? Because in Mass if you die before your appeal is heard your conviction is vacated - BOOM Patriots now may have to pay his 3.9 million bonus to his fiancee & kid. With the not guilties the families case is weakened considerably, the family of Odin Loyd may have a case. How much do think a jury thinks a convicted criminal & present drug dealers life is worth?

It is okay that we think different things. Weirder things have happened in prisons. Sure there are cameras but if a guard or the big dog in the field wants something to go down it'll go down cameras or not. No need to be nasty in your defense of your position.

I wasn't nasty just so tired of everything has to a conspiracy. It's not like the movies

So what is your explanation to the door being blocked - how did someone overpower 6'2" 245 former NFL player, leave no bruising, block the door and magically disappear?

I doubt God had anything to do with this

There was no nastiness. Yeah it's fine to think different things to a point. You're basically accusing the prison guards of being complicit in murdering him based on absolutely nothing. Base your opinion in actual reality and it's fine to disagree. Completely ignoring things so you can just believe what you want is really not ok.

I don't make everything a conspiracy so it isn't like I have a track record for that on these boards. I don't have an explanation because I don't know that particular jail. Again though it just doesn't sit right with me. I don't think the money that keeps coming up is motive enough. We'll see if the Pats actually ever pay out a dime to his estate. They won't even comment on his death.

What made it nasty was the Oh goodness sake. There is a tone to that no matter how you read it.

I don't know why you quoted me, I didn't say it was a set-up or an actual suicide. Nor do I care. I was just stating things I've heard/seen from both angles.

So what is your explanation to the door being blocked - how did someone overpower 6'2" 245 former NFL player, leave no bruising, block the door and magically disappear?

Isn't it the prison who is stating he was found hanged with the door blocked? If it's an inside job, that would be an easy thing for them to fake or set up. I don't necessarily believe that, but it's not as far fetched as you think it is.

You're basically accusing the prison guards of being complicit in murdering him based on absolutely nothing.

I don't want to speak for any PPs, but I don't think anyone here has that much conviction regarding the circumstances of this story. We're all just speculating and throwing out different angles, same as the news media is doing.

A couple of thoughts here.

How do you know the money will go to his fiancé and kid? They weren't married. Maybe he had a will, but I'd think that some of the money would go to his mother, too. And as far as Odin Lloyd's family, if anything, it's weakened their case since he now died considered innocent of that murder. There are still civil suits to contend with from both the Lloyds and the families of the other men he was acquitted of murdering last week, but from what I read, it's the other families who stand a better chance of collecting something now, rather than the Lloyd family. (Seems backward, I know.)

Have the results of his autopsy been released yet? What if he was incapacitated with drugs? I guess we'll know more when the lab tests come back.

I think his lawyer and some professional sports associates are the ones making the claims. ETA they said he'd smoked synthetic marijuana the night he died. That can certainly make people incapacitated.

The won't comment because he is a a "former" player on the team. He was fired when it all came out. Would your employer comment on your death if they fired you 5 years earlier?

Motive your 29 years old, you're a convicted murderer and you will be in a cell for the next, oh, 50 or 60 years. You have a 8x6 room with 1 window for the rest of your life. Your every move is dictated from the time you get up to the time lights out. You will the same day the rest of your life.

I'm not even going to post an article as there are so many angles to discuss on this one and I don't want to sway the discussion by posting any that promote a particular viewpoint. I'd rather let the discussion flow as it may.

It just seems like such an incredible waste of talent and opportunity that Aaron threw away to live the thug life. How did that happen? By all accounts, he grew up in a good, hardworking family.

*Disclaimer: Yes, I am from MA but I am not much of a football fan and am not gaga over the Patriots.*

I am mostly interested in this as a human interest story, but understand the football angle can't be ignored.

I read about it yesterday. I agree THUG describes it perfectly.

I am not going to fall prey to conspiracy theories unless someone produces evidence to the contrary over his suicide. Life in prison without parole would probably lend itself to committing suicide.

Oh, are some? I had no idea "some" were. Some are always so credible...guess it wasn't suicide

Did I ever say it wasn't suicide? I'm just giving all of the media "facts." And my XH is a state corrections officer and was for a big portion of our marriage. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if this was a set up, with CO's being in on it, but I really don't care either way.

It was a general statement, not sure why you think it was specifically for you. You were not the only one espousing the conspiracy so again not sure why you think it was just for you.
