In the midst of doing laundry a few days ago, the belts broke. DH fixed it. Started another load. Water starts leaking out all over the floor. DH fixes that. Have washed about two loads since then with no problem. Today, finally, I decided to tackle the mountain of laundry I've got piling up. First load - belts start squealing again - machine won't spin! I'm left with a wet, soggy, soapy towels and DH out of town for the next few days!!

i have no excuse for all my laundry

I once won "MOST LAUNDRY TO BE DONE" AWARD from my MOPS GROUP

hope your machine gets fixed soon !!!!!!

and I thought I had the title...... (although i will admit I did get down to only two hampers of unwashed laundry before our trip two weeks ago)

guess we put away too much laundry and this morning my husband went into the closet and one whole shelf (everything) had fallen off the wall....

So i have that to go home to tonight...

But OP I feel your pain.....Can you go to a laundry and wash a few loads and then bring them home to dry?

:rotfl: I won "DID THE MOST LAUNDRY THIS MORNING" Award from my MOPS group. How funny! Small world!

Just talked to DH, and he told me to start shopping! :teeth: Of course, he'll get home, and it will be something simple after I get my heart set on that front-loading machine. Maybe I've got time to do some major damage to it before he gets home! ;)

sounds like you're putting too much laundry in the machine - my belt broke once b/c of that

Yes, but I just don't want to!!! (Is there a foot-stomping smilie?)

I have a lot of laundry piling up, our dryer is broken and we don't have a line to hang up clothes. We're waiting on our landlord to replace the dryer. *eyeroll* BTW What's a MOPS group?

Nope - 6 small bath towels. That was the first thing DH asked too.

Work with me here - I want a new machine!! ;)

Mothers of Preschoolers - uh, don't remember what the "S" stands for. Anway, just a group of Moms that met once a month, in our situation, can be weekly, monthly, whatever. We just met at church, brought a dish (appetizer-type stuff), had a speaker (different topic each month), did a couple of crafts, etc. The kids stayed in our church nursery, and we paid like $5 for the day.

ok sherri...

i got my husband to buy a new dryer when ours stopped working two months ago.... I told him it would cost almost a hundred bucks just to have someone come out...Then there's the parts or the wait time until they get the parts....

It was way easier to just pay the $300 at Home depot to get a new dryer and I brought it home myself that day (they had free delivery but it was going to take them 3 days to schedule it and there was no way I could go that long (in winter months) without a dryer.....

See, now you're thinking. ;) He actually just called back and said he's going to be able to come home this afternoon after all. I think he got scared I was about to spend some money! Just kidding! :teeth:

If it's something he can't fix himself, we probably will just buy a new one. The machine is almost 9 years old - not bad - but it may just be time for a new one. It it's fixable - that's great (I guess) - we really don't need to be spending the money right now anyway. Okay, sounds like my sensible side is coming back now. :guilty:

I knew our problem was a burned out heating element when it took 15 hours for a single load to dry, so we called our Landlord 2 days before xmas and told her, and she sent someone out to test the dryer, Sure enough... it's a heating element that's burned out... What did ya know? However it would cost $260 for a NEW ELEMENT????? So she's going to get us a new dryer, when? I'm not so sure. *cuckles* Being without a dryer stinks.

Actually I am praying over my washer, refrigerator, and stove. I never thought I had to pray for my dryer. I hate unexpected expenses.

Just take it all to a laundromat and get it done in one fell swoop. It'll cost you a bit of cash, but at least it will be out from underfoot and you'll have clean clothes while you deal with the washer situation!

My washer and dryer were bought at the same time - so they are both 8 years old. Knock on wood! The dryer is doing fine. Now you watch, we'll buy a new washer and two months down the road, the dryer will go out!

s-schoolers????

I have been doing laundry for the past couple days, too. What a PAIN. With the new puppy, there seems to be another load of towels, bedding to do every time I go down there. I swear the clothes are mating in the laundry room!

Oh, I know - but I so don't miss those laundromat days! I've got about 10 loads to do (seriously!), and the thought of dragging all that up there is totally depressing! Luckily, the jeans and underwear were the two loads I did before this last breakdown, so our "staples" are done.

MOPS -
OOHH!! Yup, that's probably it!! Thanks!

Clothes mating?? HMM! So, that's what's happening! Makes total sense now!

I SWEAR that the socks mate.. hence all those EXTRA socks in the laundry room... you know the ones without a match, they have to be orphaned.

You mean the ones that I put in that bucket because I swear one day their mate is going to show up. And of course, they never do, until I give up and throw them out, and then lo and behold, it shows up stuck inside a t-shirt that was hanging up.
