Hi... Jake has been wrestling since 6th grade. He enjoys the independent yet team nature of the sport. He now wrestles heavyweight which is a huge class... 220-275..... he is at the low end.. he has wrestled some big fellas.. and a couple of girls when he was in Jr. hi!
He is undefeated this season...... however today the doc dx'd him with pneumonia..

He will miss two tournaments for sure....
He hopes to be ready to wrestle in 10-14 days..... ah we will see about that for sure!
Tips for mom's watching their kids wrestle
1. Do not let them practice those silly theatrical moves by the so called wrestlers on tv! LOL..... lots of theater going on with the tv fella's
2. Encourage your student to wrestle at a healthy weight. Do not let them do silly weight loss stunts or tricks they pick up from the other kids.... and some of them are absurd.. I had a kid trying to make weight.. the last 1/2 pound.. by spitting on the long drive to the event..... Lord have mercy.. I explained saliva just replaces itself!
3. Do not yell "go sweetie" "stick 'em baby" or "C'mon ref get that jerk off my kid" LOL
Yes.. I have done all of number 3 at least once! DS gave me my list of do's and don'ts if I were to cont' to attend his meets!
Have fun! Wrestling can build self esteem and independence.. it also involves quick critical thinking. Ya know I would have been hard pressed to say any of this before Jake took up the sport. But it is all true. oh and I forgot number 4
4. Encourage your teams good sportsmanship! Being a good winner is as important as being a good loser! Be a class act!
