I should have booked yesterday. The price was $300 higher when I booked today. On the brighter side, I booked today for the Western Caribbean cruise in March, and got my room assigned. Anyone stayed in 6076? This is going to be our first cruise, and I'm very excited.

I assume you booked for March 2006 (don't think the 2007 rates are out yet..)

We are going March 11. However - we booked back in January (the anticipation is awful!)

We'll be on the same cruise, then. I'll be the one face down in the water at Key West, Castaway Cay, Cozumel and Grand Cayman. (Where's a snorkelling smiley when you need one?)

What cat cabin are you in? We are in a 9 - still paranoid about the 3 and 6 year old with a verandah!

Seriously, we chose this cruise because of the snorkelling destinations. We even have our own gear.

We're in a cat 6. DH has mild claustrophobia, and I don't understand cruising if you have to see the water through glass. I understand the only place you can see the ocean with nothing between you is on the private verandahs?

We've never cruised at all before, but I've been wanting to do this for a while. I know there are cheaper cruises, but I looked into one, and they had a rule about under 18's not being allowed anywhere on the ship unaccompanied! That struck me as distateful, and I'm sure DS would agree. A lot of them seem to consider gambling the main activity, and some of them were just too busy or leaving from the wrong place. Disney might be more expensive, but at least I know I'm getting quality, and a place where DS is welcome and entertained.

That confuses me. Are you saying you think there is no public place on the ship to see the water? I've never cruised DCL, but that doesn't sound right to me!

there are plenty of places to see the water, don't worry! I've only been on DCL 4 times but many more times to come. check out deck 7 aft... its a beautiful view like a huge private verandah! deck 9 and 10 you can see out plenty and deck 4 as well !!

The railings for the staterooms also have plexiglass on them. They make it as difficult as possible for kids to climb them. The only deck with plexiglass top to bottom is deck 9...and that was the smartest thing that DCL ever did IMO!

As long as you are tall enough you can see over the railings on Deck 10, Deck 4, Deck 7 aft and all verandahs. No plexiglass is in the way. They have it along the railings so that kids (or even drunk/stupid adults) can't climb. Deck 9 has floor to ceiling plexiglass to help with wind and such along the outside so you can sit and eat or socialize. You'll understand better once you are onboard.

On our cruise in Jan 05 I was surprised to see a small area near the bow of the Magic on Deck 10 where there was a gap in the plexiglass wide enough for a small child to be able to slip through. Also be aware that at night they stack the deck chairs near the railings and inquisitive children can climb up on them and could fall over. The boat is pretty child proof though. Thought I would mention these two things to check out when you are on board.

I just noticed that it said some cat 6 cabins have twin beds. Please tell me this isn't one of them. I don't remember the cm asking about a bed preference.

If it does, the Steward can push it together for you and make a queen. All the rooms are like this.
