chewed a hole in the carpet!!! She's only a puppy still (9 months), but she's only done this one other time, and that time was in an inconspicous spot! This is right in the middle of the family room!! The only good thing is that its not that big of a hole, and the carpet is gray, so it kind of matches the stuff underneath the carpet itself. What am I going to do with her!!

My puppy (almost 6 months) just did the very same thing, right in the middle of my bedroom floor. Thank Goodness I was planning to replace it anyway, or I may have been a little more upset.

Are you talking about Nana? I was wondering how she was doing...guess she's getting into trouble!

Yikes! Do you have her crate trained? That's not safe!

Give her a hug, she is just a puppy. And Doc has the right idea, a crate. Vince's dog, Doc, is crate trained, and loves it now.

Yes, skuttle, its Nana! She's too funny, she's either an angel or a devil (not unlike my kids, I suppose, lol!) Like I said, she's only done this once before, and the only other thing she chewed that I cared a lot about was the sofa! But, she hasn't done that in a long time. She really prefers the kids' toys, no matter how many "dog" toys we give her.

aahmom, we should really replace this carpet, it needs it, but now I'm scared what she'd do to the new one!!

Yes, she's crate-trained, but I was just in the next room for a couple of minutes doing laundry, and that's when she did it, literally in a couple of minutes! She usually doesn't get into that much trouble that fast! She's all snuggled up to me now, Dan!!:D

i'm glad to hear she's safe in a crate when you're not around. it's insane how they can get into stuff so quickly... my boxer likes to "recycle" plastic in his own special way.

A friend of mine is dog sitting for her daughter's dog while they are on their honeymoon. Today, he chewed a hole in the skirt on her new sofa! Needless to say, my friend was a tad upset. This dog has chewed the woodwork, the wallpaper off the kitchen, he jumps up and takes things off the kitchen table and chews them. He's an American Bull Dog, I think. This is the last time she is watching him...I don't blame her! After the first chewing incident, I wouldn't have him in my house again!

Reilly chewed a hole completely through a plaster wall... ripped a piece of baseboard off and ripped a piece of clapboard off the house...boys will be boys!

Smore goes for the food...we don't feed her table scraps...but she tips over trash cans...moves stools around the kitchen till they are at the counters so she can climb up on my counters....AHHHH!!! This morning after dropping the kids at school found her on the counters looking for food....Oh yeah she likes to shred paper, and plastic cups....:D

Oh my! Can you cut a patch from a closet somewhere? You might be able to stick it in with duct tape if you don't want to have it professionally patched. :)

I had some carpet professionally patched after a hailstorm once, and you couldn't even tell where they made the repair.

You guys are starting to make me feel better with these stories!!

Lisa, we'll probably have it patched, DH is a home builder, so I'm sure one of his contractors will be over to patch it soon!

When our dog was a puppy, he chewed alot of stuff...2 dining room area rugs, numerous flip flops, orthodics. I searched for something to GIVE him to satisfy that chewing urge. He could chew up any rawhide thing in no time flat. Finally found Nylabones. That pretty much solved the problem. He's 4 now and doesn't even chew the nylabones anymore.

Wait til she starts bring animal parts home. YUK Thats what mine is into now.:(

Maybe there's something in the air for dogs today. I heard Max chewing on something and figured I better find out what it was. I walked in the room and there he was ON THE SOFA chewing a box, all 72 pounds of him. I've had him almost three years, and this is the first I've seen him up there. As I repeatedly told him to get down, he laid there looking at me as if to say....Yeah, right Mom. Hmmm...I wonder if he's going up there when I'm at school.
