I booked my flights through TCD the other day and paid £4177 for a flydrive for 5 of us. I was happy.

Someone I know works as cabin crew for Virgin and her Mum has just said, 'Why didn't you as ******, she could have got you 23% discount!'

I didn't ask this friend as I thought it was cheeky and I'm sure she gets asked all of the time. I just wondered if anyone knows whether this sort of discount is available for family/friends of cabin crew...as I have a 7 day 'cooling off' period with TCD.

Argggghhhhh!

I think the thing is, you have it booked now. As we've discussed, the actual virgin prices (when released) is anyone's guess. I think you have a very good price for the time of year.

I think you'd need to know whether the staff discount includes all flights at all times of year. It may not :confused3

Perhaps have a word with her and then make a decision - as you say, you have a cooling off period.

PS - My DH can apparently get 10% discount through his work on Virgin flights. I rang today and asked about it and was told "discount isn't offered on new flights or already discounted flights" - erm, so what exactly is it really useful for? :confused3

Thanks Patsy. Now I have stepped away from the laptop for a couple of hours, I have some perspective. I am sure her discount would come with strict conditions and would probably exclude peak times or something. It just made my heart sink lol.

I would still ask though, especially if her Mum mentioned it - you could use that as a starter into the topic :rolleyes1. If you don't ask, you don't know.

If all else fails, I think you have a great price :thumbsup2.

Ha funny you should say this, we get a 10% military discount and yet after booking 24 flights with then we have yet to be able to get the flaming discount!!!!!
They tell us its not on this or that flight, and then they priced up some and they came to more then what it was without the discount? Lol! It's like getting blood from a stone....

I would ask her at least - I used to work for a big airline and these 'friends and family' discounts can only be booked in a certain booking class.....and so it all depends if that class has enough seats available to book into. Worth enquiring I would imagine.....but if you've only got 7 days of a cooling off period then do it soon because I reckon she'll have to make a call at least to check availability. Hope this helps!! I have emailed her to explain why I didn't ask her. She did tell me to ask her about flights last year but I really didn't like to lol. I will see if she gets back to me. :)

My SIL to be is a Virgin Flight attendant, she told me the discount is minimal but your more likely to be upgraded for free if there are any upgrades available.
