aaaaaakkkk!!!! my kids are trying to make me get rid of all my old children's books!!

My kids are cleaning up and they are trying to get rid of all these old books that I've had since they were really little. Some were mine when I was little I am such a packrat!) They are trying to throw away the first books they ever had. The pile of keeps is much larger than the pile of donates......

Keep them! I went to an antique co-op yesterday. They are selling the toys and books I had as a little girl for large amounts of money...

Tell the kids they are an investment.

Please keep them! Your grandchildren may get to enjoy them one day. My DH has so many books from when he was a small child. Our kids enjoy reading them and knowing that those were daddy's books when he was their age.

My MIL also saved some toys like the GI Joes (the big ones with real hair), the big jeep, Legos & some other stuff. They have played with all of them! It's just neat!

Just get a box and store them in the attic (somewhere out of sight).

My problem is that I can't SELL any of the stuff I have that's worth $$. It's too sentimental!

I have the same problem - but it's DH that wants to get rid of everything. The kids have inherited the packrat gene from me, but DH is more of the "use it then toss it" mentality.

I have all my books from when I was little & a few from when my mother was small. No way was I giving them up! We finally resolved the issue by getting some of those Rubbermaid-like plastic bins from Wal-Mart & storing them in the basement. We did give up a bunch that people had given us when they were cleaning out their "treasures." Some of them made me wonder who ever bought them?!?!

All I can say is you can donate all books. And if you want to have a heck of a garage sale put "old childrens books" in your ad and you will be swarmed.

I never throw away books, it just doesn't seem right. Somebody can always use a book. If you do end up getting rid of them, please donate them.

I have a pile (the largest ) of keepers, a pile of donates and a pile to rotate through my classroom throughout the year
