I would like to join AAA to get a room discount, but if there aren't any available I don't want to join. So my ? is if I book through WDW do I have to have the AAA card at time of making my reservation or do I just have to have by check in. TIA

I made a reservation and received the AAA rate without giving my number.
I was told that I would have to show my card when checking in. Have some contingency plans ready since it seems as though each resort has a limited number (if any) of rooms available at the AAA rate. They also told me I could call back to check for cancellations on my first choice of rooms. Good Luck!

Every time I have made my ressie they have asked for my AAA number. So, I'm not totally sure that you can make the ressie without the number.

When checking in they have asked for my card and compared the number on the ressie to the computer.

If you know the resort and the dates you want:

Call reservations and ask whether there are any AAA rooms still available. If so, call AAA immediately and join. Then call reservations back and book the room.

I have AAA and just booked a room for August on Friday night and they didn't ask for the number, but did say that I needed it for check in. You can check availibility whether you have a card or not.

They asked me for my number last time. Like most things disney, it depends on the CM you get.You definitely need it for check in though.
