How much did AAA save you on your vacation, if you booked with them of course... in other words is is worth joining, for the purpose of booking this trip? If so do they only offer specific packages or can they pretty much accomodate most suggestions?

Thanks

Laura

I just got a quote yesterday on two rooms at POR, dinning plan, 1 day base ticket for everyone and it was around $570 savings over the Disney website quote. I don't know if the Disney site had added the tax in or not yet so it could have been a little more than that.

I do think it is worth the AAA membership. BUT you can get a quote first to make sure they have AAA discounts for your time and resort so you don't go joining but then can't save anything.

I really wish they would let the other TA's like Dreams Unlimited give the AAA discount on the packages. I sooooo much prefer dealing with DU.

think about what your asking. the aaa provides automobile services as a basis for most folks joining. a secondary perk is discounted travel. why would a members only benfit be given out for free? i join so i know that my wife and kids are safe in the event of a problem. do you think membership clubs like costco should be open to the public too.

The quote I received from AAA would save us nearly $400. (Eight nights @ YC)
The membership was $85. Sounds great, right? Wrong! I'm already booked with Disney and scared to switch to AAA because then Disney can't see my AAA reservation. I'm concerned about being charged upfront for CRT and HDDR. We're going on the Premium plan and those meals are free. I can understand if they charge a deposit but we won't be paying upfront for something that's already costing thousands of dollars. I can't get a straight answer so now I'm afraid to book with them in case Disney can't see the info. (Which I don't understand either because we're using the Disney Visa which has to be charged through Disney to get the rewards and zero interest so why wouldn't they be able to see the reservation.) Sorry, I got a little off topic there but the point I'm trying to make is AAA is a good deal but I don't understand it enough at this point to trust it as far as the Disney discount, but I'm sure we can recoup the membership fee with a couple of tows, or something.

Oh yeah and you get a free soda in Tomorrowland!

Is this via a coupon from the aaa travel agent, or can you just be a member, show your card and receive your drink? oh, and where in Tomorrowland? TIA! :drinking1

I just booked through AAA for the end of Nov early Dec at POFQ and saved $350 off of Disney price. My Aunt is a travel Agent and I asked if she could do better and the best she could get was a $100 savings.

Question The brochure mentions that there are other places that offer AAA savings within the resort and parks, does anyone know what other discounts are available?

Polyfor30th, there's an AAA lounge in Tommorrowland. Look for a gate with an AAA logo between the Carousel of Progress and the Galaxy Theater. Go on through the gate and down a path that takes you more or less behind the CoP. You need to show your AAA voucher to the person at the desk, and you can get a free soda. They have nice bathrooms there, and a lounge area with comfortable seating, info about AAA travel/trips, and a TV playing Disney movies. You can stay as long as you like, but you only get one visit per voucher. Nice break on a hot day. Oh, and you can only get the voucher if you book your vacation through AAA. You can't get into the lounge just for being an AAA member, you need the voucher.

I have never used AAA road service; when I sign up it is purely for the member benefits -- the free travel guides, maps and trip-tiks, as well as for hotel discounts and all the discounts that come in the book that I always forget I have.

I'm not sure how much I saved using AAA to book my vacation -- I do know that before I went in I got quotes for 4 people, 2 rooms for 6 nights and a 6 day park hopper pass, no dining plan, and that I ended up paying only about $500 more for the same 4 people, 2 rooms for 7 nights, 4 7 day park hopper passes, and 4 dining plans for those 7 days. (That's a huge savings -- 2 rooms for an extra night, 4 additional passes to the parks, and 28 daily meal plans for only an extra $500?)

I joined just for the Disney discount and saved 20% on my room only reservation. Since I joined though I've used the membership for discounts at other hotels. I'm really happy with it.

Just wanted to let you know that Disney won't charge you for those bookings if you're on a dining plan and booked through AAA or any other agency.

We booked a package w/ the dining plan through AAA and I called myself to make ADR's for CRT and Mickey's BBQ. Both of those meals are 2 TS meals on DDP and require prepayment for diners not on a plan. But, the CM asked me if we had booked a dining plan and I told her that we had, so she noted that in our reservation and only took the credit card number for a guarantee. Since they can't see the reservation (they can only "see" ressies made directly through Disney) they link it to your home phone number instead of your confirmation number. That way even though they can't see the original reservation, they can pull up your info when you call and keep all your ADR's and other info in one place.

We'll be charged if we don't show, oherwise they will use our DDP credits for the meal that day. She also said that I could pay OOP if I wanted to save the credits, just to let them know when we get there. :thumbsup2

So, even though they can't see your reservation, they will ask you and trust that you're being honest. :)

Very helpful information. Thanks a bunch!

I called Disney and asked for the AAA rate for our 9 night stay. It saved me about $370. I then joined AAA for $60 so I think it was worth it.
