AAA worth the $$$?

Is it worth the $70.00 to join AAA to get their special rate? We are planning on staying at POP November 2008. Also, can I book 3 rooms with my one AAA card, or does each person need to buy a AAA membership?

My card only cost $50. To me it is worth every penny. I saved $200 on my room at WL. I think you can book up to 2 or 3 rooms on one card

It is definitely worth it if there is no other discount available to you.

You will get 15% off the rack room rate at POP during start to middle of November (Oct. 4 - Nov. 24) or 20% off from Nov 25 to Dec. 19. Note that the AAA discount does not apply to the ticket/DDP portion of a package.

I don't know the exact number of rooms you can book with one card (and I can't find it in my AAA vacations guide)but we are saving about $400 using our card to book a room at Poly for 7 nights.

Call WDW and ask them how many rooms you can get.

If a discount does come out that is better than the AAA, you may be able to get it applied.

I agree, it is definitely worth the price. We have saved over $200 on our WL reservations also. In addition, you can order your park tickets at a savings of approx. $11-15 each. The card is also good at a number of stores and saves money on prescriptions. It has enormous benefits and pays for itself with the first night's lodging. We have only used it on deluxe resorts - I'm not sure if Pop's offers discounts.

You can book straight through Disney, I did. Just ask for the AAA rate and if it's available at your resort choice (rooms are limited at the AAA rate), you'll get it.

AAA is totally worth it. We typically save $200 a year on hotel stays, if not more.

Just an FYI: if you're wanting to book a package with room, tickets & dining - AND - want the AAA discount on the room portion (discounts are subject to availability), you have to book directly with AAA.

You can book a room only AAA discount through Disney but can't get dining too.

If you book directly through Disney or a travel agent OTHER THAN a AAA travel agency, that is correct.

You can book a AAA room only discount through a AAA travel agency and then you should be able to add on the dining plan and at least 1 day tickets for each person in your room.

I have a question. Can you just add on the dining plan after you have your room and tickets? I thought you had to have the Magic Your Way Package - which includes a number of other things, in order to get the dining plan. When I got the quote for our "package" it was about $150 more than the cost of the room, tickets and DDP. The reason we did not get the package is because we really did not want to pay for things (i.e. miniature golf, food credit at Planet Hollywood, water sport, etc.) that we did not plan to use.

When comparing apples to apples.. directly.. a package should not cost significantly more than taking room, full priced tickets and full priced dining (if applicable) and comparing them.

The 150$ difference you saw was probably a result of not quite comparing exactly the same things to each other .. because frankly, I rarely see the difference between package and adding the sum parts. Remember.. there are lots of little things.. travel insurance, park hopping on the tickets, whatever that can add up to that difference and really easy to overlook.

To answer your question - YES - you must have a package to get the DDP.

The miniature golf, Planet Hollywood and whatever else you might get are 'added value' .. in theory at least they don't charge you specifically for those items.

If I already have a room only reservation for January through Disney and when dining plan details come out and If I decide I want that, how hard is it to cancel my existing reservation and switch to the aaa room/ticket/dining plan? Will aaa call disney and transfer package over or do I have to cancel one and book another? Do you pay aaa or Disney?I am also wondering if when it goes to room assignments, do they give better room assignments to those booked through Disney direct and not through aaa? Sorry for soo many questions.:
