I remember reading on these boards that if you buy your tickets through AAA you get a "Diamond Lot Permit" to park, in your packet. These are supposed to be spaces right up front. My first problem is I can't remember if it was with the purchase of Disney or Universal tickets. Has anyone ever heard of this if so can you tell me anything more about it?

Thanks,

It is Disney tickets but only certain ones. I believe that it is 5 day and up tickets (doesn't come w/ 4 day hoppers; found that out when I decided that's what I was buying, so I am looking for a better price on the tickets other than AAA).

From what I've been reading, at most parks it's easier to park and take the tram than park in these spots. At the TTC, I read that they are way down past the handicapped slots and no tram stops there so you have to walk. However, I've only been to Disney once and that was 21 years ago and we parked in the Tour Bus section, so you might not want to listen to me - LOL!

I love the AAA diamond parking! It’s true that it’s not always that much more convenient than taking the tram. But I like the option of being able to walk and not having to wait for trams. For instance, last trip I wanted to drop in to AK really quickly just to see the parade. I was able to park my car and be in the AK within about 5 minutes, and it was the same when I was leaving. Taking the tram could have added another 20 minutes to that. I’ve used it at each park and it has always worked well. There is a little bit of a walk, but compared to all the walking you’re going to do anyway in the parks, it’s nothing! FYI, I’ve continued to use the same pass for a few trips since it doesn’t have an expiration date on it, and I haven’t had a problem so far.

We found out last trip, that if you have a AAA parking permit, you can actually park at one of the ends of the rows..the end closer to the tram. We watched someone pull up and go to the first end spot behind the row where we were being told to go. Since we had to stop because of the traffic, we got to hear the exchange between the person telling you where to park and the person with the pass. The parking person said, sir, you must pull up into this row..the guy with the pass said, I have a AAA pass..the parking person thanked him and told him that was the place to park. Anyone else know this? I didn't, and we never use the AAA passes, since we usually end up waling further by using them. I read on another board, that you can also use a handicap sticker like this, if the person can use the tram, but can't walk far.

We just went to WDW for Easter and we had 4 day hopper tickets WITH Diamond Parking passes. Any ticket for WDW that you can buy from AAA comes with this pass, BUT you have to ask for it. The parking was awesome, especially at MGM. We were a very short walk from the park entrance to MGM and not very far at all from the entrance to MK and AK, so it is definitely worth having. The spots are just past the handicapped parking at all the parks.

Last year I used the pass. At AK they do put you at the end of the row of cars. MK it is the handicap parking area. MGM was very close to the front of the entrance. Epcot-it was the parking lot that is directly to the far left of the entrance where some restrooms are. Very close to the entrance. The one thing we found out, if you have the pass, is ask the first person you see (the people collecting money for parking) where the diamond lot parking is. At epcot we actually had to exit the park and come around again. I believe we had to follow a blue line but we did not know it at the time.

You still pay regular price for Diamond Parking, but the parking is much closer. We arrived at the park every day at opening and had front row parking each day. We even went to MGM on day after a morning at MK and had front row parking, very near the entrance. I have heard people complain about waiting for a ride to the gate for what seems like forever. This way there is now wait and you can enjoy the magic even sooner!!

I put five Diamond Passes into the scrapbook bag with the DIS stroller. I hope that someone gets to use them.

Thanks for the imformation, I was given 2 parking passes when I bought my tickets at AAA, but the lady that sold them to me had no idea how to use them, this is great imformation. We are staying on site but renting a car so we will just drive to the parks each day!

I went to AAA this week to inquire about the Diamond parking pass. I had already bought my tickets thru Disney directly so didn't need any tickets. I flashed my smile and showed the baby blue eyes and asked very nicely if we could have one without a ticket purchase. She handed me a parking pass anyway. So, I guess it pays to be a loyal AAA customer sometime.
