AAA Room Discount & Dining

Can you book a room only on Disney's website using a AAA discount or do you have to call for that?

Also, if I book a room only with Disney, using a AAA discount, and purchase the park hopper pass separately, can I add dining? What about if they offer free dining? Can I get free dining if I book everything separately or is that perk for just those with packages?

I had to call the Disney reservation line to reserve my AAA room only reservation.

But to get the dining plan you have to book a package including tickets. AAA travel agents can book those, not Disney. They basically cost the price of the AAA room discounted price + full price tickets and dining package. You can't get a AAA room only discount, purchase separate tickets, and then purchase the dining plan.

You can't use the AAA discount for free dining.

You have to call for a AAA room only.

Dining is a perk of the packages and AAA packages have to be booked through AAA.

If I book a package with AAA that includes the room & passes, but not the dining plan, can I still get the free dining if offered? What if I book a package with dining, then free dining becomes available? Will I be able to change the dining package to the free dining and get a credit for that amount? Which is a bigger discount, free dining or discounted room?

Like it was said above, you can book a AAA discounted MYW package through a AAA agent and include the dining plan.....now if free dining is available again for your dates, you would have to contact your AAA agent and see that the discount is available for the room you selected. They can have the package changed...but, you lose the AAA discount on the room. In order to get the free dining, you have to pay rack rate for the room, no exceptions. With the changes to the dining plan for 2008, I think I would keep the room discount, but that's up to you.

That depends on which resort and how many people you have. I can save about $18 per night on a value resort with a AAA discount. Free dining for our family of 4 is worth about $160 per day, which means that Disney is effectively paying me $68 per night to stay in the room. I don't care what changes they have made to the dining plan, you just cannot beat that deal. Now if you are staying at the GF or the Poly, and there only 2 people, that changes things but I don't know those figures because I won't pay that much for a room.

I booked my room only reservation directly with WDW CR using my AAA discount and got the same rate the AAA website had quoted to me. I do this all the time. I never reserve room only anywhere through AAA, I call the hotel direct and just tell them that I have AAA & then show my card at check in - works every time.
