AAA Rates -- I guess I waited too long . . .

My plan for next June was to get a standard room at RPR w/ the AAA rate. If the cost difference between purchasing an AP and getting an AP rate was great enough (assuming an AP rate got offered during my travel dates), I was going to do that, but figured the AAA rate would be fine -- I know it saves around $25-$30 per night.

So, I finally got around to making my reservation today for next June, thinking I'd be paying $250 for a weeknight for a standard room, and lo and behold, there are no more standard rooms with AAA rate available!

I had to get a water view for $278/weeknight (and yes, that's the cheapest of all 3 hotels). I'm kind of bummed because I'll be paying about $100 more over the course of 3 nights than I had originally anticipated.

1. Do you think it's possible that the AAA rate is already snatched up for standard rooms for next June or was she just not looking hard enough? :confused3

2. Can someone tell me how great the water view room is and how much I'll enjoy it so I can at least feel better about it? :lmao:

Are the AAA rates for next June even out yet? Did you call the hotel or did you call AAA?

The rates for June are out - not sure of your dates, but I just put in June 16 through the following Saturday on the AAA site and the price for a waterview is coming up at $233 for Saturday and Friday and then $216 for the rest of the time. I made our AAA rate reservations for next Aug. directly through calling Loews. I would call the Loews number and see what they have for AAA rates. We get two rooms at the HRH and love the fact that through AAA they are guaranteed to be connecting. I would call or go to the AAA site and under the travel heading go to hotels and put in the info and the Royal Pacific is coming up.

Yes, they're out -- even the email confirmation I received specifically mentions the AAA rate. I called the hotel directly.

Wow, so odd. I just went to AAA's website. If you put in the dates you mentioned above, sure enough, you get those awesome rates. But if you put in mine (6/13 - 6/16), the rates shown are even MORE than what I'm paying. I thought maybe it had to do with a Saturday night stay, so I tried 6/16 - 6/19, and still no luck. But put in an entire week like you did, and those fab rates come up. That same "prepaid" rate does not come up if you stay for a shorter period of time.

No standard rooms come up w/ the AAA rate during my dates, so I guess it's true that there are none available (but the rates quoted on there for AAA water view are in fact more than what I was quoted and made my reservation for by phone).

I guess $278 is a good rate for a water view during that time period for just 3 days. Would have rather had a standard view, though, for $30 less per night.

The AAA website frequently gives different AAA rates than what the hotel will quote you.

The longer stay is probably what is giving the lower rates. It may be a discount off of the stay more save more rate.

FL public schools end the week before and the resorts tend to be busy that following week. I think the water view is amazing and usually povides a great view of the parks too.

You might still be able to get a good AP rate when they come out, but probably not until April for June dates. Atleast you have secured your reservation and you can always apply a better discount if you find one.

This site saved me and some friends each $40 per night as I just kept checking the chatter on discounted rates and finally landed some about 8 weeks before our dates.

This thread just inspired me to check to see if the AAA rate was out yet for August (it wasn't when i booked). The AAA rates are out, but as we are staying 5 nights, the stay more save more rates are better. the person I spoke with said that the discounts couldn't both be used and she has never seen the AAA rate beat the Stay more save more rate when the stay is longer than 4 nights. Is this consistent with other's experience?
