Aren't the mods and values more in the neighborhood of a 15% discount?
I'm dying to book my fall 2006 trip but am waiting on the school schedule for this fall so I can see the pattern of historic days off. (Our school system has at least 2 days off every month...even during the "break week" months!)
I got 15% off rack rate for standard view at the Beach Club in value season. Every little bit helps! Went from $305 plus tax to $259 plus tax (now $289 a night! still high for me)
Usually off peak season is 15 to 20% off the Disney price. My understanding from a book that I read about disney though is that each resort has a different peak and value season. My DH and I went to Disney last year in early august which is supposed to be peak season for the parks. We stayed at the Grand Floridian and got a huge discount of 20% because it was value season for the GF.
I found what I had read so I will type it out for you:
Holiday season: 10 days around Christmas time. The resoert rates are over 30% higher than the value season if booking through Disney.
Peak season: runs from mid-February to mid-april. Some disounts are available but they are few and hard to get.
Regular or moderate season: For the value and moderate resorts this season runs from mid-April to the last week of August and for the month of October. For Ft. Wilderness regular season runs from mid-April through the first week of August. For Disney Deluxe and Home away from home resorts the regular season is from late April to the 4th of July and the whole month of October.
Value season: Value season includes all of January to mid-February, the end of August to the end of September, and all of November through the first 3 weeks of December. Value season for most of Disney's deluxe resorts and home-away-from- home resorts also includes after the 4th of July weekend to the end of September.
Very tricky. I found all of this in the book Fodor's Walt Disney World for couples the 5th edition. It was very useful.
If you call Disney to get the AAA rates, make sure the CM checks for you. They do not seem to all know that the rates are available. I called yesterday and the CM flatly said, NO, the rates are not available. I did not have time to argue and figured I would try today. Called today and the CM said he didn't think the rates were available yet, but would check. He came back and said that they were, and then thanked me for helping him learn something.
I've been calling about AAA rates for a day or two and was told they were absolutely not out. Thanks to the board I kept trying and got my discount at Coronado Springs for next March. Can't wait!!!!
I had a room only ressie that I booked myself. When the AAA/CAA rates came out, I called and asked them to apply the rate to my exsisting ressie. She checked and told me I was getting a great rate. Hope that helps.
I have BC @ $373 standard view before tax during peak season, it is a 10% savings. Not great but it is something. I made my ressie on that Friday that they were released.
