Why isn't the AAA rate the same regardless of where I get it?

I called WDW directly and requested a AAA rate on two rooms for Oct '05. I then checked with my AAA office directly and their quote was about $200 more. One of the differences was that the nightly rate changed during our state since it was split over two seasons (value and regular). Does Disney do this? I though the rate for you entire trip was based on the season that you check in with. Is this right? Are there other AAA perks?

If you call AAA, you are probably dealing with their travel agency. The only thing about booking through AAA is that AAA Travel controls the reservation. If you book directly with CRO, you control the ressie and can make changes.

I've booked through AAA and CRO. When we went in Nov, AAA Travel had rooms at CBR but no CSR rooms. I contacted CRO and they had CSR rooms. Both were the same rate under the Disney Visa package.

Just like Expedia, there are rooms that are sold to them in blocks. AAA are old time sponsers too. If you are in a car and have little ones, those diamond parking passes are gold! You also save 10% on just about everything in the parks if your booked thru AAA and staying on site.

I thought the 10% discounts were only in Downtown Disney???

If I were to book through CRO and use my AAA card would I also be able to save 10% on just about everthing in the parks or must I booked with a AAA agent to get this perk?

When you book directly, whatever season your trip starts in is the rate you get for all your days even if the season chages during your stay. In case of the reverse (starting in reg & then going to value) you'd have to make 2 ressies to benefit from the season chage but if it is value to reg it works to your advantage.

We booked a room only through CRO using our AAA discount.
We went to our AAA office to get some maps or something and I asked if we could have the AAA parking pass. She said yes and gave it to us. Now... I know this was probably a fluke but it could hurt trying it. Now, we are Always in our AAA office here and I have had AAA for years so that may have been the reason I don't know.

Also my understanding was that you just needed to show your AAA card to get the discount in DTD. I could be wrong. We did this at Universal but not at DTD.

We Don't get the package through them since it costs us more in the long run.

Thanks WDWBetsy,

Bummer, I don't want a package but I sure would like the food discounts.

You never know - maybe you could call your local AAA and ask if you can get the Diamond card without buying a package. It doesn't hurt to ask!
