I was told by a AAA TA that I would have to include trip insurance in order to book a package with them. Is that true systemwide or has anyone booked a package and been allowed to decline the insurance? TIA to all who can help.
That is completely false! IF you decide you dont want the insurance, you need to sign a form indicating that you are doing so. They can not refuse to book your package if you dont want the insurance. Seeing as I work for AAA, I know this for a fact!!!

Yeah, they are wrong. Disney does automatically add the insurance to your package (which I think is a little sneaky), but your TA can easily remove it. I am a aaa travel agent and most people don't get the insurance..
I just booked and paid for my AAA reservation and I had to sign the paper saying that I refused the insurance but I was told that I had a short time to change my mind even if I initally refused it.
Another question.... Those of you that have purchased insurance, do you think it is worth it?? Have you had to use it? I am booking my FIRST trip today when my AAA TA calls. Just was wondering about someones experience with the insurance.

While I have no experience with AAA, we did have insurance for our Sept 15, 2001 Disney Cruise that was cancelled, of course, because for Sept 11th. We had no problems changing the dates (I'm sure it didn't matter whether we had the insurance or not). Well about 4-6 weeks before the time came for our rescheduled cruise, the friend that I was traveling with works at the VA Hospital, called to state that she could not get the time off because they were denying leaves and retirements, they gave us the hardest time, as this time we requested for a refund not a reschedule (maybe). However, eventually we did get our money back. I think, they really stick to those reasons listed for cancelling and make little to no exceptions.
Hmmm.... I guess something is going on with me, because I just got off phone with AAA agent who gave me rates $300 more for standard view than WDW site showed for courtyard! These are the same WDW rate I have been getting off the website all week so I feel like there is no mistake on my end. She seemed surprised when I told her and said she would call back. Anybody else have a similar experience?
A few times in the past we had paid for the trip insurance. Luckily, we never had to use it.
You may want to consider it, depending on the coverage, cost and timing. If I were traveling during hurricane season to FL, I think I would look into it...
