Did your AAA office have a Disneyland AAA Vacation brochure? The one I got last summer was about 9" x 11" and 23 pages. It spelled out all the benefits of the packages (including the MTTMM). The only thing the the brochure got wrong was that they gave us a pin and lanyard, which wasn't in the list of benefits. How did it come out to $72.50 more, if you don't mind my asking? We were charged the fee if $13, too, but I'm wondering what would make it $59.50 more.
Thanks!
By the way, they had the brochures in the office, I got it from the travel agent who ordered the tickets, not the counter. Maybe you have to be a AAA member to get it?
Thank you for your reply. Yes, I did pick up the 2012 AAA vacation brochure (with Alice on the cover), and I even still have the 2011 brochure (with Minnie cover). In both booklets on page 22 it lists the Passport Plus ticket options and neither one mentions the MTTMM benefit on that page, so perhaps that's what she was reading!? (On the back cover of these booklets it lists the AAA vacation benefits when you book the hotel + tickets through AAA, and there it lists MTTMM.) So I'm hoping she's just wrong and those vouchers would be included. We did a AAA vacation package (hotel + tickets) last year and the MTTMM vouchers are included in the same booklet with the other vouchers and diamond card. This year we didn't want to commit to a vacation package with the restrictions, so we booked our own room-only reservations, and now I just need park hoppers.
Again, I'm just going by what she's told me, so here's the price break down:
I need 5 5-day park hoppers, 3 adults + 2 kids. The Passport Plus ticket option is $246 adults, $226 kids. They told me they sell 5-day park hoppers in their office for members only to purchase, and those are priced at $233.70 adults, $214.70 kids, but do not come with any of the discounts or vouchers. If what she's telling me is accurate, that's a price difference of $12.30 adults, $11.30 kids. That's a $59.50 price difference for 5 tickets, plus add to that the $13 handling fee, comes to $72.50 more for the Passport Plus option over the in-office park hoppers. However, I have to calculate what discounts I would use with the diamond card, such as the free kids meals at Rainforest Cafe and other restaurant discounts, plus trading pins, so in the end it's not really that much more. Since we're flying and don't need the free parking perk, it makes it less valuable to us. I'm still leaning towards doing the Passport Plus option in hopes of getting the MTTMM vouchers as well....a bit of a gamble.
Another factor we have to decide is if we might want to get 6-day park hoppers so we can go in the parks for a few hours, but I'm not sure we'd use the that 6th day. The only option for the 6-day park hopper is to order it with the Passport Plus package (they only carry 3-day and 5-day tickets in the office).
I'm starting to worry about the in-office tickets. What if they quoted me the wrong price, or what if they're not park hoppers.
