AAA package what to expect?

We have reservations for Fort Wilderness campgound in april 2006. I had originally booked "campsite-only" through disney cro with the AAA discount, which is just under $100 for 8 nights (15%).

I recently changed to an AAA package with dining through an AAA agent. The savings, compared to the disney website, is the same as room only. But CRO does not let you add dining (even when it isn't free) and keep the AAA discount at the same time.

I am using this agent for the first time and I really like her. I don't need anyone to do my ADRs or to answer basic questions. But she gets back to me quickly and is pleasant to deal with.

OK, this is what I was trying to figure out! Right now I have an AAA discount through Disney, with added park tix. I want to add the dining (not free for my dates). So now what do I do? I already have my tickets and one night paid for through Disney. Do I have to cancel all of that? Or do I just call an AAA TA to take care of this? I think I'll call Disney today and see if they would add the dining anyway. It wouldn't hurt to call. I'm just rather hesitant using an AAA TA because of all the negative things I've heard about them.

BTW, I believe AAA cost us $50 for one person, then $25 for each additional family member (annually).

If you want the AAA discount on a package, then yes, you'll have to book through AAA and cancel your disney reservation. But check with AAA before you cancel to see if the discount is available for your dates.

Only one person needs to have AAA, the person making the reservation.

We use it for emergency road service (nothing lately, luckily!), maps, travel info books and discounts. My dry cleaners has 20% off for AAA. Lots of other places have discounts too. They have insurance and some other financial services. My parents have an AAA credit card that gives a rebate on gas!

Booked POP for 11/26-11/28. AAA was $84 a night with taxes and all it was $99. I just checked Disney, it was $113 a night.

I guess maybe our small savings with AAA reflects our short stay...Seeing what others have saved and how long there WDW trip is...adds up to make our short 3 night 2 day park tickets savings with AAA close to what everyone else is saving.


OH...also Yes only one person in the group needs to have a AAA membership...but in our experience it did NOT have to be the one making the reservation We have a group of 12 (3 diffrent families and one single person)...with a total of THREE diffrent reservations...whom all used the one persons AAA membership to get the discount....I made everyones reservations...and I don't have the membership...actually the person with the membership isn't even related..and our AAA TA did know it.

We are going to the WL in Jan and saving about $175 with the AAA discount.

We have a grand gathering of 10 to Pop 8/28-9/3. There are 6 adults/4 children (2 under 3). We have room, dining plan, & 7 d myw base tickets. I made all of the reservations directly with Disney. The total for my family of 3 (2 A 1C<2) was 941.46.

While picking up a triptik for my mother (who won't fly ), my local AAA office convinced me to transfer my res to them so I could get their freebies. The price was the same. I was told you could not get AAA room discount with the free dining (although another agent told me later that she had been able to book one with both-but AAA rate discounts were no longer available for my dates). Anyhow. . .why did you have to pay a booking fee. I didn't. Is that regional? The only fee my local AAA office charges is when you book air only, then it's $20 pp. So. ..maybe I saved $25 and didn't know it!

We didn't pay any booking fee either with AAA.

With the grand gatherings package or title...do you get any benefits? Were a group of 12 (6 adults and 6 kids). I looked over the grand gatherings things that they offer...and don't see anything that would intrest our group...well maybe the boat thing to view the fireworks...But the only possable night we'd be able to do that would be the night we arrive...and i'm not sure we'll be up to doing much at all that evening. But anyway...do you get anything else by being a grand gathering group??? Like rooms close together..or anything?

I could be wrong, but I think you pay a booking fee if you book with a Travel Agent. There are two positions usually at AAA, a Travel Agent and a Travel Counselor. A travel counselor does things like triptiks, memberships but can also book hotels, cars and Disney. Travel agents book things like air, tours, European or International Travel.

I put in a request for a quote online through AAA mid altantic and neither of the quotes included any kind of fee. I spoke with my agent (?) and they don't have fees except for air. I don't know if this differs when walking into a local office.

Unless they hide the fee....it didn't show up on our quote or actual statement after we booked.

Even if they did add a fee...we still saved booking with AAA over booking through Disney or other TA's that I checked.

I was just at AAA an hour ago. I wanted to check the price that they'd give me versus what I was quoted through WDW Travel with the AAA room rate. The rates were exactly the same. No fee involved. The only difference would have been the additional cost with AAA if I added the insurance.

The Travel Agent even told me not to change anything, but to stay with what I'd gotten through WDW Travel.

Room only AAA rates should be the same through WDTC or an AAA office. It's just when you want a package with dining that AAA is better. WDTC/CRO can't add dining to a discounted AAA room rate, but AAA can.
