. . . I just got off the phone with a TA from Rhode Island and she told me AAA rates aren't being offered for my travel dates -- Nov 30 - Dec 5 -- at the WL. Has anyone else encountered this? Is is possible the WL has sold out of AAA eligible rooms? . . .
Yes, it is possible. WL books up fast during this time of the year (or any for that matter, but the period of time when the Christmas decor goes up is VERY popular). I would bet that all DELUXE AAA-discounted rooms for late Nov/early December and on through the Christmas holidays are going to be difficult to find. They definitely were there at one time, but now they're booked. That's not to say that someone won't cancel, because it
could happen.
WL was my original resort choice. When I first booked, there was no problem getting the standard-view room with a 15% discount, but when I changed my dates from mid-December to late-Nov/early-Dec, I was only able to get a couryard view (which is out of my budget range). We decided to go with a moderate (CBR), and had no problem getting the 20% discount on the standard view rooms with tix AND dining.

I called AAA's 800 number a couple weeks ago and asked them to quote me a price for POR. It was the same as Disney's rack rate. The original poster mentioned AAA dsicount codes. Can I see the dates/resorts and the rates these codes offer somewhere? I'd be willing to join AAA if there codes offer a good discount.
Jeff, I don't have a breakdown of what each item in my package costs, but I know the discount on the room is 20% during value season for a value or moderate resort (deluxe resorts are a 15% discount during this same time). It also seems that I may have gotten a slight discount on my tickets too, but I am not really sure about this. (
Nevermind. I just did the math, and the difference in the prices below is 20%, so NO ticket discount.) Michelle (my AAA TA) does all the work, so only she (and other AAA TAs) knows the codes that got me the AAA discount on the room plus the dining plan.
Here is what I have checking in November 27th and out on December 4th, which is VALUE season:
7 night Disney's Magic Your Way Plus Dining Package
2 standard view rooms at the Caribbean Beach Resort
***Room #1 - 2 adults & 1 child (age 9) 6 day premium tix
(aka: 6-day MYW pass with hopping and plus pack)
***Room #2 - 2 adults 6 day park hopper tickets
Insurance declined
AAA's Quote (from Michelle Shears in SC): $4,011.96
Disney's Quote for the EXACT same package: $4,431.20
BTW, the 800# listed in heather360's post is not a general AAA number. The number she has provided is directly to the AAA Vacations office in Mt Pleasant, SC, which is where the very helpful Michelle Shears works.
