I know if i go in Nov i can get a 15%off AAA discount on room only.

Does anyone going in Nov know what the package breakdown is
is it 15% of entire package??

Package
-room 9 nights at POP
-7 day tickets
-dining (maybe) 2A 1 C

curious about what the % off is on the dining through AAA with a package anyone know?

I may be wrong but I am pretty sure the only discount on the AAA package is the room. I do not think there is any percentage off on the dinning.

You are correct. Tickets and dining are not discounted with a package. It is just the room.

so are there other benefit with booking with AAA? If not then i can just book myself using AAA code then change if wdw comes out with a deal or code

If you want a package with dining you will have to book through AAA to get the room discount.

One of the perks, is a AAA parking pass - which allows you to park closer to the front gates.

Correct, booking a AAA package requires booking through AAA.
Keep in mind they will own the res and are the only ones who can make any changes. You can make your own ADRs, or have them do that. But that is it.
AAA packages do have some extra perks, such as AAA Diamond pass for parking.

There is no AAA discount on dining, only on the room portion of the package.

From mousesavers.com:

"AAA and CAA Resort Hotel Discounts
American Automobile Association (AAA) and Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) members qualify for "room only" discounts almost year-round, though there are a limited number of rooms available for each date. You can generally save about 10-20% at the Disney resort hotels, depending on the season.

In general, the discounts run as follows:

During Value Season you can get up to 15% off at the Disney Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts, or 20% off at the Value and Moderate resorts and the Ft. Wilderness campsites.

During Regular Season you can usually get up to 10% off at the Disney Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts, or 15% off at the Value and Moderate resorts and the Ft. Wilderness campsites.

During Peak Season and Summer Season you can usually get up to 10% off at the Disney Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts, or 15% off at the Value and Moderate resorts.

The only time AAA/CAA discounts don't usually apply is Holiday Season (around Christmas) at the Value and Moderate resorts.

You don't have to book AAA/CAA rates through the Auto Club. Room-only reservations with an AAA discount can be booked directly through the Disney Reservation Center at (407) W-DISNEY or a travel agent who specializes in Disney travel. Just ask if there is an AAA or CAA discount for your dates and resort.

AAA/CAA rates for all of the following year are usually released in the summer. 2008 AAA/CAA "room only" discounts were released on August 5, 2007."

If you book AAA discount on your own (room only) and then later decide to add the package (dining/tickets) -- can you then go to AAA and ask them to convert the room only that I booked to a package? Or would you have to start over again from scratch and see what's available at that time?

Anyone know what cancellation policy is with AAA or if there is a downside to booking through them?

THANKS!

If you book a room only reservation on your own and then want to change it to a package, the room only reservation will be cancelled, your deposit refunded, a new reservation created and a new deposit required. This actually happens no matter how you book a room only reservation and want to change it to a package, even if you do both directly through disney. I believe that the cancellation policy is a disney policy not a AAA policy, so it is the same no matter where you book the room. The downside to using AAA to book your room is that they own the reservation and you have to go through them to make any changes. You would not be able to call disney to ask questions about the reservation at all.

Does that mean you lose your AAA discount on the room rate, or can you book a package through disney and still get the discount on the room?

You can book a package through Disney, and may or may not get a discounted rate, depending on codes, availability, etc. The room discount could even be better than AAA. Or it could be rack rate. Usually WDTC and AAA offer the same promotions.
You could not keep a AAA discount on a package booked through WDTC (Disney).

Hmmm, so it's kind of sounding like it may not be worth using AAA. I'm a control freak and it would drive me INSANE to not be able to talk to DISNEY about my booking. Espeically if you happen to have a lazy Travel Agent at AAA who doesn't like to do alot to help out. (I used to be a travel agent...not AAA...so I've seen plenty of lazy ones!) Truly, the only reason I would join AAA is to get the discount however I don't think it's worth it to me if I can't talk to Disney directly with any concerns or questions. :sad2:

If a possible room is the only reason for joining AAA, I suggest just waiting and see what other discounts come up.
I also would not buy an AP just in the hopes for a room discount.
Do you have a Disney VISA credit card? You may do just as well with that.

Another option-put together your own package. Make a room only w/AAA discount reservation directly with Disney. My dates/resort savings-about $450.00
I purchased my tickets through Undercover Tourist that gives a little extra discount if you subscribe to MouseSavers- Savings - about $40.00 (And I got my tickets amazingly promptly!)

Airfare I always book myself, especially these days.

Of course, this wouldn't work if you're really, really wanting a dining plan. We prefer the flexibility of not having the dining plan. I use part of my savings toward a great rate on a rental car, and we sometimes dine off property. Cheaper...and you don't have to make reservations 180 days in advance. :)

That AAA card is well worth it to me. For non-Disney travel, it's saving me a good amount of money at hotels this summer.
