Hi, I am hoping that some of you can help me. We are planning a trip to WDW Oct. 11-17, 2007. I am ready to make reservations, however I have a couple questions about AAA discounts.

1. If I am not already a member is the discount worth it to join?

2. Do I have to use a travel agent to receive the discount, or can I make the reservations myself?

I don't want to miss out on a good deal, but I don't want to make any mistakes in my planning.
Thanks for all your help.

I use an agent and it's 20% off the package price. I think it's VERY worth the savings!

I made my room only reservation directly with Disney and got a AAA discounted rate for the room.

Depending on the time of year your traveling (Value, Peak, Holiday) I believe your precentage may change...BUT YES I think it is very worth joining even if you are only joining for the WDW Discount. We have bought our package for the last 3 years from AAA and I save on average $150-$200 for a weeks stay at a value or Mod resort. It only costs roughly $50 to join AAA Depending on where you live. If you stay at a Deluxe you may save even more.

I have not tried this but I read on DIS that while yes you can get a room discount by calling WDW with your AAA...in order to buy a package and still get the deal on the room you had to go through AAA.

Hope that helps!

check what specials are going on... when my mom took me in 05 she joined AAA to get the discount (didn't use a travel agent) and then later there was a deal where AP holders got a huge discount so she bought an AP and we saved even more, counting the price of the AP and the AAA membership... not sure if she cancelled or changed the original reservation...

.and as stated above, I book room only through CRO, and the discount is applied, we also use the AAA discount for our Amtrak fares too, plus the benefit of AAA auto service is well worth the price of a membership. They offer discounts at alot of other retail stores, like 10 % of Target purchases, something to look into.

And in the past (I am assuming they still will do this) I was given a diamond card with my package I booked through AAA. This allows you 10% discount at World of Disney in DTD, and I think a few resturants too.

and one more thing I thought about when booking with AAA they often offer their own deal. I think someone mentioned that if you booked in Jan. you recieved $25 in Disney Dollars or something like that.

Although we did not book our entire trip with AAA, we are members and took advantage of all that they had to offer. I researched tickets, using tons of different discount sales options (I even made a spreadsheet:thumbsup2) and AAA was by far the cheapest. Plus all of the xtra perks.

oh yeah we got a good discount on the Segway tour of Epcot's World Showcase because of AAA too

If you book a package through AAA and there is a code that comes out later, are you able to apply it to your package?

My AAA agent tried a few codes for me ,so I think they can use them, but not sure how it works.
I joined AAA just for this trips discount. We saved, even with the membership fee. Yo ucan check online, but it was only 45 dollars a few weeks ago if you joined online. We also get a $25 gift card to Disney as well. You can look around and ask other travel agents ,but this was the best deal for us.

You cannot use a code and AAA discount both. I saved a couple of hundred booking AAA- but a code came out with the park hoppers and discount and the savings were about $3 difference. But I saved on some dining at WDW and %10 on keys to the kingdom tour.

I called AAA two nights ago to jump my car since the cold froze me out!

I used AAA on an overnight stay for the notre dame game

I will be using AAA for my calif trip for hotel room for 5 nights

so yes it was worth it!

1. If I am not already a member is the discount worth it to join?

Youwill have to check it out first. You can get great rates thru Disney. Or rent points from a DVC member.

2. Do I have to use a travel agent to receive the discount, or can I make the reservations myself?

You can make a AAA yourself, also thru Disney yourself.

I don't want to miss out on a good deal, but I don't want to make any mistakes in my planning.

You have a long time check out all options.

Then have a great vacation!

& They'll come and change your tire for you... which for me is a really good thing!!!! :yay:

& yes... 20% off my room rate last year meant I could stay at the GF for @ $1900 for 6 nights...

Yup,

We used AAA for the last 4 trips and book through them for everything now. The Travel Agent, Wendy, also helped coordinate our wedding guest reservations and walked them through the entire WDW process. (We had a few first timers with us) Just can't say enough good things about AAA, plus as was already stated they change your tires!
