Ok, I would like to be able to get a AAA rate for our February trip, but since search doesn't work on my computer, can someone clarify if I for sure need to be a member when I call to add the code? Please note that I fully intend on purchasing a AAA membership if I can get a good rate with it, but I don't want to join now if I can't get the rate KWIM? I know some say it is useful for other discounts and therefor is worth it anyway, but not for me. I live in an area where there are virtually no places to get a AAA discount, and we don't travel much and hardly ever stay at hotels (we always "RV" instead).

TIA!

I've read on these boards that DRC will ask for your AAA number when making the reservation.

Maybe somebody can confirm...:confused3

They will ask for your AAA number when you make the reservation.

I have a AAA rate next month.

You can ask if there are rooms available at the AAA rate without the card. That way you can see how much money it will save you. Then get the membership if you want and call and reserve.

Thanks, I am just worried about wasting time and possibly not being able to get a room with the AAA discount. I think I will just go ahead and get my membership now so I am prepared.

Thanks!

I don't know if it has changed...but, I have booked the AAA rate every year since 2004 (twice in 2006) without being a member at the time. I was never asked for a number (except once).

My routine is to book my room at AAA rate to start and then wait for a discount that is either better or the same as AAA without having to join the club.

In 2004....I booked AAA...then, a Disney Visa rate was released that was better...so, I switched and didn't have to join AAA.

In 2005....I booked AAA....then, a general code was released, so I switched and didn't have to join AAA.

In 2006....I booked AAA...then, decided to get an AP. We waited for the AP discount to be released and was able to get a better rate. I did this twice in 2006.

In 2007....I booked AAA for our May trip....then, recieved the AP discount again and changed over.

We are heading back in 2008. I'm booked at rack 2007 rates since the 2008 rates are not out yet. Once they release the 2008 rates, I will change my ressie over to AAA. I am now a AAA member anyway as I joined in March 2007.

I really think it depends on which Cast Member you get. I do have to admit that I did lie once when asked for my number, I told the CM that I didn't have it with me. She still made the reservation with no problems.

I also had every intention of joining every year if the AAA rate was the best rate I could get.

Speed :teleport:

I just booked with a AAA and I do not have a membership yet. I was told that you need to show your membership card at the Hotel.

YEP, you sure better have the card with you when checking in, otherwise, you'll be in for a suprise----rates are even higher than the specials as you are treated as someone walking in that moment and looking for a place to stay

The most you'd pay would be rack rate for that season, right?

The 2 times I booked with AAA rate I was asked for my number at that time. I do have AAA so I dont know what they would have said had I said I didnt have the number with me.

When you provided your number when booking the resv. did you also have to show it upon check-in?

I paid for AAA online while on the phone w/ disney.

I didn't have AAA when I called, but wanted to know if it would be worth it...would I save enough? So when I called I prefaced my conversation with "I hope you are having an ok day because I have alot of questions and may be a pain!" I said it cheerfully so he knew I was half kidding and he laughed and said "Go ahead, I have all day." :)

So I explained my wanting to know about AAA, turns out I'd save $137 with the membership, so it would cover my annual dues to AAA, and still save a good chunk.

I asked if he could hold, I had all my info filled in the form online, just had to click submit, so he waited, then I gave him my registration confirmation #. Then when I got the actual AAA number later I called back and gave them that info. They did specify both times to make sure I had the card & photo id at check in.

They have alot of other discounts also, check the AAA website. Definitely worth the annual dues.

I booked my WDW vacation with WDW reservations using AAA code, but wasn't asked for my AAA number. They just said I'd have to show the card at check in. We're also going to use AAA to purchase our FRSP too & save a little bit more money. :woohoo:

ok, I'm slow...what is FRSP?

Just came back from a stay at the Poly using a AAA discount code. When I made the reservation they didn't ask me the AAA number - they just said to make sure to bring my card with me for check-in. However, when checking in they didn't even ask to see the card. But I guess you need to be prepared and have it or at least the number just in case.

We are going to WDW in October and have a package booked for October with AAA. Our final payment is due Aug. 28. Our AAA term expires in September and we are not planning on renewing as our car insurance offers us towing and assistance. Will this cause problems with my reservations?

They didn't ask for mine. My written confirmation said that I would need to present my card at check-in :)

Hmm-maybe it just depends on the CM you talk to since there are posts both ways :confused3
