AAA free parking

I'm not even sure it has to be the driver...
But yes, you'll only need one ticket for them to scan.

Not exactly. This is how AAA 'discounts' their tickets. They are regular price tickets but include free parking. Occasionally I see people report actual ticket discounts at AAA (usually in Arizona ) but most of the time its just the free parking.

So showing your AAA card isn't going to get you free parking. But if you buy your tickets through them they will say on the bottom that they include parking in Mickey & Friends (though others here have reported that you can park in Toy Story too).

This is true.. I have purchased my park tickets from AAA and Mickey and Friends parking is included. The ticket can be for anyone in your car w/a AAA ticket. You don't have to purchase a package from AAA either you can just purchase the tickets and it still includes the free parking.

And I can confirm that AZ AAA offices do sell the DLR tix at a slight discount... about $10-15 depending on the ticket. It takes some googling to find it, but there is a published, updated pdf with the prices for verification out on the internet.

When we bought our tickets through AAA for our trip in February they were a couple of dollars cheaper than Disneyland's discounted online rate plus we didn't have to pay $15 a day for parking for 5 days. That's $75 worth of free parking.

We are in Arizona and we use AAA to book our trip. We use their package deal and it is cheaper than booking directly through Disney. We get free parking and then for our hotel and 4 day park hoppers, in December 2013. Through Disney, it would be about $1260, but with AAA, we're paying $1179. So, there is a discount on the package, plus the free parking. What we save just on Disney alone pays for us to have the membership.

This may be a dumb question, but I am a DLR newbie. I have booked my package through AAA, staying at DLH. For the free parking at the Mickey and friends parking garage, can I park there overnight? I thought it was just theme park parking and that I'd still have to pay $15/night since I'm staying onsite.

I've booked vacation packages through AAA, and the free parking is for the theme parks only. You still have to pay the $15 per night fee when staying at a DLR resort. Personally, this chaps my hide - I feel if I'm paying a premium to stay on property, and parking is included at the parks with the AAA package, it should also be included at the resorts as well. Just doesn't make sense - if you book a resort package, why would you use the guest parking lots? Oh, well...

I totally agree. It's also a very foreign concept for me in regards to Disney. While I'm accustomed to paying for parking when traveling in big cities, I'm used to free self parking when I stay at Disney World. It seems that free parking would be an additional incentive for people to stay on property rather than at Good Neighbor hotels. Guess I'll stick with my plan of turning in our rental car at Alamo when we arrive at DLR after touring LA and then getting a new one when we leave DLR to go to San Diego. A little more hassle, but it's dumb to pay $60 in parking for our car just to sit in their lot.
