AAA discounts?

Hi

Can anyone help me out as I'm in a dilemma regarding where to book our final 5 nights in Orlando next April

I was considering one of the value or moderate resorts at WDW and was wondering whether it would be worthwhile my joining the AA for room discounts?

I have to own up to not knowing much about how the rates work, what they might be, or whether there will be any available for our dates (check in 8th April - 13th April check out)
I've priced up the regular room rate on the WDW site but am unable to check out prices with AA discount as they require a valid card number

I know it's a little cheeky but are there any AAA members on the boards who would be willing / able to see if there's anything available for those dates and find out whether we could make any savings by checking online?

Normal rate for a value resort was £320 for the 5 nights and, I think, £490 for the moderate.

Any help would be fantastic .

AAA discounts vary with the season. the dates you listed are in peak season and the discount on value and moderate rooms is 15%. I think deluxe are 10% discount.

in WDW value season (varies by resort) the discounts go up to 20% and 15%.

Try MouseSavers.com, the usual/historical % are listed there. Allears.net also has lots of discounts listed.

If you're booking a MYW pkg w/dining option, all is moot - you'll pay rack rate for the room.

You should also be able to call and get a quote for a AAA room without being a member. They never asked for my card number when I called. You'll need it at check-in from what I'm told, but I think they asked for it when I actually finally booked it too.

I may well give them a call then
I'll have a scout round to see if I can find a UK number to ring.


I pretty much try to avoid phonecalls wherever possible (as I can never seem to say 'no' to whoever is on the other end of the phone ) much preferring to arrange things online if I can

I'll just slip my assertive 'work head' on and get ringing

if you are getting a Magic Your Way package - AND you book through a AAA travel agent, you can get the room discount applied to the cost of your package. you can't get the AAA discount on room rates if free dining is offered.

that said, OP is in the UK and I don't know if their version of the AAA club is reciprocal as far as rate discounts, or if she can join a US AAA.

As I understand it the UK version (AA) is treated in the same way as the US AAA and, as such, generates the same discounts

I've found a UK number so will give WDW, or maybe even the AA, later.

So, can you wait to get AAA until closer to trip time (so that maybe I will get to use it for 2 trips) and still book an AAA rate initially as long as you provide your membership at check-in (or is that not ok?).

Read about this on another thread somewhere on the boards and it seems that it depends on who you speak to when you call to book Some people were asked for their membership number on the phone, whilst others were told to bring their cards at check in

I have booked a MYW + dining package vacation for January 2006. AAA offered significant savings over mouseearvacations, smallworld vacations and Disney reservations. So, in my region, AAA does offer a significant discount on MYW packages + dining.

I logged onto the website and put in the April dates but no AAA rates seem to be available at the WDW hotels

I found some for a few other hotels.

I understand that there are only a few rooms available at these rates but do they bring them out at a certain time or are they out with the prices and then around until they're sold out?

I am a AAA member but when I logged onto their website for my area - aaacarolinas - I filled out the travel request at the top right of their home page, giving my dates and entered Orlando, FL as my destination. When the search page came up (with 400+ hotels) I went to the bottom of the first page, clicked on modify my search and on the new page it asks for specific hotels and there is a listing for Disney World hotels so I selected that. I got POR for $107 (plus tax) in December which seems very reasonable to me. And it really never asked me for my AAA #. In fact when I called AAA to see what the rate would be, they told me $134 or something like that. So try that.

I just booked CBR for $148/night in March, which is peak season. The standard rate for that time is $175/night. So yes, it is worth it to join AAA for the discount ... especially when you're staying several nights.

When I checked the website for my time frame (Jan. 7-14), I was seeing discounts for All-Star Music and Sports ($63.20), but not Movies ($79/night). Changing the date very slightly (taking off one night at the end), ASMo was also $63.20 per night (1/7-1/13). Then, checking for 1/13-1/14, the rate was only $72.80. Does anyone know whether they will do a varying rate (i.e. combining $63.20 for 6 nights, then $72.80 for one), or must the whole reservation at a single rate?
